Welcome to Gillette

By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff

FOXBOROUGH -- Welcome to Gillette Stadium, where the Patriots host the Redskins today (4:15 p.m.).

It's a beautiful New England day, with temperatures in the mid-50s and clear skies. The temperature is expected to rise slightly by kickoff. In terms of conditions that could affect today's game, there are considerable wind gusts, so that will be something to watch.

Larry Nemmers, who will retire after the season, is the referee for today's game.

The Boston Pops will perform today's national anthem.

With a win today, QB Tom Brady will have defeated every NFL team as a starting quarterback in the regular season. He has faced the Redskins just once during the regular season in his career, losing a 20-17 decision at FedEx Field on Sept. 28, 2003.

We'll have more throughout the day.

I've read this comment several times this week, and I have a problem with it. He has never defeated the Patriots, I guess I'm just being picky. Same goes for the similar comment being made about Peyton this week.
