3-3-5 defense

By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff

The Patriots have gone back to their 3-3-5 defensive look for this series, the Colts' eighth offensive possession. The defense had been in a four-man line for the first three drives of the second half.

Here is the sequence of defensive looks to this point (not including goal-line situations), which reflects that the team has been in different variations of the nickel today:

  • 4-2-5
  • 3-3-5
  • 3-3-5
  • 1-4-6
  • 4-2-5
  • 4-2-5
  • 4-2-5
  • 3-3-5
