Action Jacksons

By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff November 7, 07 04:39 PM

The Patriots made it official today, activating receiver Chad Jackson and cornerback Eddie Jackson off the physically unable to perform list.

The team released safety Ray Ventrone to make room on the roster.

The Patriots are now full on their 53-man roster. Ventrone has practice squad eligibility and could return to the practice squad if he clears waivers.

Today was the final day of the 21-day window the Patriots had to make a decision on both Chad Jackson and Eddie Jackson. Both players opened the year on the PUP list, recovering from knee injuries.

  1. ....wow...with so many receivers how the heck does Troy Brown make this roster. He'll only make it if somebody goes down in the next game or two. Would they cut Gaffney or Washington to make room for Brown. I'd love to see him in the stretch run if he can still play.

  1. Off subject!!

I need help with picks against the spread. Why will one game show negative points and other positive points?

For example, on CBS Sportsline, in the weekend 10 expert picks, they show Atlanta/Carolina(-4.5) and Buffalo/Miami(+2.5). Would there be any difference if the spreads were listed Atlanta(+4.5)/Carolina and Buffalo(-2.5)/Miami? If not, why the differences? Thanks!

  1. hey mike, what is the possibility of using chad jackson as a kick returner? he has good hands and speed and its a way for him to be productive and see the field. If not then he'd just be a coverage guy or blocker which is important. as a team we have so much depth at reciever its nuts.

  1. i see washington as the odd man out. only reason he MIGHT stick around was the signing bonus...what was it? like 500grand for the 2 year deal? and where has his production been? does he play on special teams?

  1. I can't imagine the Patriots cutting either Gaffney or Washington to make room for Brown. Gaffney still gets snaps with the offense and will until Chad Jackson is ready to go. Washington is a force on special teams.

Chad and Randy set outside left and right. Welker and Watson with inside positions. Chad And Randy outrun coverage and TB throws to Chad, as Randy has drawn the double coverage. TD1. Next Series, same idea, TB finds Randy this time against weak double coverage, 'cause the the corners and safety are cheating a bit towards Chad. TD2. Next Series. Randy and Chad fly all over the place and Welker/Watson take turns catching 15 yard outs. TD3. Rinse, Lather, Repeat.
