ESPN All-Pros

By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff November 7, 07 02:50 PM

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli unveils his midseason All-Pro teams and the Patriots are well represented.

On offense, the Patriots are represented by QB Tom Brady, WR Randy Moss and LT Matt Light.

On defense, the Patriots have OLB Mike Vrabel and CB Asante Samuel making the cut.

  1. I love my PATS and all but didn't Light just get smoked by Freeney last week? I think Mankins is more deserving. BTW Where is Wilfork on this list?

  1. Rodney Harrison has almost shutdown two of the best tightends in the league (THE GOTO GUYS)! Sacks and a INT.

  1. A lot of guys are, certainly, missing from that list.

  1. How can you say they get no respect...of a total of 22 chosen from the entire NFL, the Pats got 5.

Welker is great, but do you really think he's the second best receiver in the NFL (after Moss)?

Personally I think that the Pats got TOO MUCH respect. No way is Matt Light the best Left Tackle in the NFL. But the line as a whole has played so well that Light got the nod. I think Mankins probably has a better claim.

  1. As in impact player, whose influence is felt in 2 of the 3 phases of the game (offense and special teams), Welker more than deserves the honor of being on this list.

Pasquarelli dropped the ball on that one.

  1. I actually was kidding about the respect thing. I suspect, though, that the team will twist this around into bulletin board material. Hey, whatever works!!

It makes me nervous to hear all of the talk about the undefeated season. Usually that means the team is going to lose a bunch down the stretch. I really hope these guys stay focused and not let it go to their heads.

  1. I would take Big Vince Wilfork over AH. Ty Warren is also a possibility on Defense. I agree with MV, he has 8.5 sacks in only 9 games. It would be great if he made it to his 1st pro bowl this year. This guy really is a swiss army knife , as the SI article said. He's great at OLB rushing the passer, but he filled in nicely over the past 2 seasons at ILB when needed. AS has done well considering he came in late. TB + RM look like they have been working together for years. ML has trouble with speed rushers but is steady otherwise, although not all pro.
