ESPN chatter

By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff November 25, 07 06:21 PM

The public relations staff at ESPN has passed along some Patriots-specific comments from analysts on the network's NFL Countdown program today:

  • Tom Jackson -- "It’s potentially the best offense that I’ve ever seen. I still have some question marks about the defense."

  • Keyshawn Johnson -- "This is actually the best team that I have ever seen with my own eyes."

  • Emmitt Smith -- "This is the best team that I have seen assembled since the free agency era has begun. But, I think about my '92-'93 Dallas Cowboys … I don’t see that kind of depth on this doggone Patriots team."

    1. Can't say I really care about what Tom Jackson or Emmitt Smith have to say. One is too deep in unwarranted bitter feelings towards Belichick and the other is more of novelty for ESPN with little to add other than his love of odd shirts and ties. However, Keyshawn has been, suprisingly, a complete breath of fresh air. Totally unbiased and unafraid of challenging other views. He is already one of the most intelligent NFL analysts on TV.
