Extra points

By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff

PARRY GETS THE CALL: Sunday's game between the Patriots and Colts will be officiated by John Parry's crew. Parry is a first-year referee who was promoted from side judge this year. He was a side judge in Super Bowl XLI. Parry's crew has worked seven games this year and has called a total of 88 accepted penalties, putting him in the middle of the NFL pack.

EARLY DEPARTURE: With heavy rain and wind in the New England region, the Patriots moved up their departure to Indianapolis slightly today. The team left about an hour earlier than normal.

OPEN ROSTER SPOT: We'll be keeping an eye on if the Patriots fill their open roster spot, which was created by placing RB Sammy Morris on injured reserve. If the Patriots go in that direction, our thought is that CB Eddie Jackson is the likely candidate. We'll be traveling this afternoon and -- assuming there are no delays due to weather -- will plan on reporting any roster moves and downgrades on the injury report later tonight.
