Indy predictions
By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff
Who will win Sunday's game between the undefeated Patriots (8-0) and Colts (7-0) in the RCA Dome?
Writers from the Indianapolis Star made their predictions in today's editions of the Star.
The Colts take the sweep, getting four of four votes.

(15)It's so sweet that they still have hope. I'll be impressed if they can stop the Patriots first drive. No one else has.
Maybe they need a little humble pie. I hear it gives you a little gas.
Mike,
Are you surprised??? Listening to all the talking heads and Boston writers who do you think all of you will pick today??
P.S. I am a big Pats fan and echo what Willie said in Cleveland. Pats lost last year in Indy last minute and now are that much better. If they put Sanders in the box, Brady will kill them. Sander is very similar to the Steeler safety Troy P......... I like the 38-14 score but would gladly take another 40 something margin like WAS. Pats are on a mission this year.
must be nice for the local media to back their team...good on you Indy media. I wonder what the predictions from the Boston media will be. Probably not all for the Pats i can bet you.
Not shocking at all!
Didnt the Washington media last week, say how the pats have never faced a Defense like this. We all know how that turned out.
After the game they were complaining the pats didnt go easy on them in the fourth quarter.
Of course the local media is going to pick their team; I would expect the same from the Boston media. But notice how each outcome for Indy is a close game. To me that's a weakness in making predictions. None of them even dared to give Indy the win by at least a touchdown. I think they WANT Indy to win, but deep down they know that it won't happen.
Those predictions are homerific! Then again they should be. I like it when the home news supports their team.
That said they are a bit delusional. I do not see the Colts winning this one. The Pats get better as the season progresses, and this is also true of this year, and THAT should scare the living tar out of our opponents!
We came within two minutes of winning last year. The Colts haven't really changed much, though their defense is playing a bit better. We HAVE changed. This is NOT last year's team. Examples of who will be at this game that wasn't at last years game:
Offense: Moss, Stallworth, Welker, K. Brady.
Defense: Seau, Harrison, Thomas, Merriweather
Don't forget, one of our best defensive players just got back: Seymour.
Oh noes! This one isn't even close: Pats by 17. Once again we have a team facing us that has no idea how good we really are. Ask a player that has had to face them, and who knows us, like our old LB Willie! He knows. They can't compete at our level. They are a good football team, but they are not on our level. The only way the Colts win is if they play a perfect game and we make mistakes. I don't see that happening with Manning completing roughly 50% of his passes since the bye. He chokes in big games, but last year his team saved him. They will need Manning to come up big this time, and he will not.
They are new to winning, the do not know any better.
Last 3 losses to Indy- No Rodney
we did not have Junior OR A.T.
We do not have Rashaad Baker starting
We will not have Alexander on Dallas Clarke
We did not have Rosevelt Colvin in the 2nd half.
and that is just the defense.
On offense we had an injured maroney, and we did not have Moss, Stallworth, and Welker
All four may have predicted an Indy win (no surprise there--they have always been incredible homers), but the interesting part is that they are all predicting a victory of four points or less. Not as confident as one might expect or the reigning champs.
One of the most heart warming things about this game for me is the fact that BB seems to be enjoying himself this week. That is always a good sign! Let the blowouts continue...
The confidence shown by the Pats this year along with being the most talented team on paper and on the field has everybody very scared, except the media of the team they are scheduled to destroy next. Keep your head in the clouds and your hope in print local media. You will continue to feed fuel to the flame.
you all know that if your sports writers don't pick the pats, the complaining would begin.
let your homers be homers, and let their homers be homers.
sheesh, who cares what a sports writer predicts?
Idiots. If Marvin Harrison is healthy this will be a laugher. Colts have too many weapons and the Patriots Defense is getting old and stale. Manning has taken apart these senior citizens the last 3 times the played.
Seymour and Vrabel lined up against a rookie LT. Is it even fair? Manning will have to throw the ball very quick or get blind-sided. I say he'll give N.E. 3 turnovers: 1 pick and 2 fumbles. Manning will be sacked 5 times. That's my prediction, anyway.
Harrison will make Clark a non-factor. Indy's a little too banged up at WR to challenge Samuel and Hobbs. Indy won't be able to stop Moss, Stallworth, Welker, Gaffney, Watson and Faulk. Two, maybe three of them, but not all of them. N.E.'s offense is too deep and Indy'd defense too suspect for Indy to win.
And Belichick is the greatest defensive mind perhaps ever. The only reason Indy was able to score so many points in the second half of the AFC championship game was because of the injuries to the defense and the flu was going around.
I predict a 38-24 N.E. win over Indy, but I think it'll be 38-17 12 minutes into the 4th quarter.
jforse your an idiot Marvin Harrison isn't healthy and the injury report was out for over an hour before your post. If you want to come on our site and talk trash... do your research you monkey.
The colts don't have more fire power than us anymore and our D is healthy. Its gonna be a different story with different linebackers and DBs that are significant upgrades to last years playoff roster.
Come back on Sunday night and run your mouth... oh but you won't you'll be too busy with your head in the pillow crying yourself to sleep. loser.
