Moss checks in

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Comments from receiver Randy Moss in the locker room after the game:

On dropping a pass and then having Tom Brady go right back to him
“It’s just part of the game. You’re not going to catch all of them. You’re going to drop a few. So it was just having faith in me and coming back to me and that’s the only thing I really wanted to do. I dropped the ball, but I didn’t really get down on myself. I knew it was a crucial drop so I really wanted to come back and make a play. I didn’t know when the opportunity was going to come my way. Luckily it came the very next play so that’s a good thing.”

On setting the Patriots’ single season touchdown record
“I’ve never been a fan of records. I learned at a young age that records are made to be broken. I’ve never lived on records or getting my name in the record book or anything like that. We have a goal and the goal is to still be playing in January. It starts with the Eagles and after that we can look down the road, but we can’t until we play Philadelphia.”

On if the offense can play any better
“Of course we can. I just think from an execution standpoint with all 11 guys executing there’s no telling what we can do. That’s why Coach Belichick never lets up on us. That’s why we practice hard and that’s why he puts us in pads and things like that. When you have a coach that really has the passion, desire and love for the game of football and he puts players in position that really love the game, you can’t ask for anything more. You want guys out there that are hungry and that’s what Coach Belichick puts on the field, some hungry football players. That’s a guy you want to play for.”

On what Coach Belichick told the team after the Colts game
“That humble pie. He put that humble pie on us. Actually it was a humble pie casserole. It wasn’t really a pie. Just being the coach that he is and not letting us get too ahead of ourselves coming off a bye and having played Indianapolis and being 9-0. I really commend him for that. Having straight tunnel vision not just for himself but for the whole team. It paid off today. I’ve always known Coach Belichick to be a helluva coach. I consider him the greatest coach ever. I didn’t really expect the preparation he puts us through. I’ve never been through that so actually for us to come out and win this game the way we did is actually something that Bill knows about.”

On if he had motivation from knowing that Terrell Owens had four TDs in a game today
“I saw the real 81. I think he had like 170 yards and four touchdowns. Yeah, I saw the real 81. But I don’t really get into that. I have a job to do and that’s to go out and block and catch balls. To try to go out there and try to duplicate or do something better than a receiver did on Sunday is not my game and I don’t want to do that.”

On the play of the offensive line
“They came out and set the tempo. They gave Tom some time to throw and we had to catch the ball. So hats off. It starts up front. The offensive line did their job and it trickled on down to everybody else.”

  1. Wow -- isn't this the perfect set of comments from a once "cancer" in the locker room? And wasn't that overblown -- most of the fans and staff from the Viking days respected him as a player and get this -- a hard worker.

  1. What can I say. This is class, from top to bottom. This is a guy who wants a ring, and deserves a ring. This season's Harrison and Dillon. He deserves a ring and I pray he gets it, and not to leave out Junior Seau, too. Junior has a passion and he deserves to be called "Champion"

  1. Wasn't this guy supposed to be bad news? All summer long all we heard was how Moss was washed up, had lost a step, no longer had the hands and was a locker room cancer.

This is not the bill of goods one was lead to believe.

Take the Terrell Owens question above. His response was excellent.

All I see here is class. What an amazing trade for a 4th round pick.

  1. the buffalo crowd chanted "[expletive]!".

what I'd like to know is what Donte Stallworth had to say about being hit by a beer thrown from the stands. two were thrown, one hit him. I'm not sure if it was shown on NBC, but it I saw it from my seat in 113. it went right over my head.

A lot of people were escorted out of last night's game.

  1. You suppose there's a possibility that Moss takes a substantially below-market deal to stay here? He seems like an extremely good fit, and genuinely happy. He's already made enough $ to last a lifetime.

  1. Moss would do very well to stay in the Pat's org. He has never had a q.b. like Brady throwing him the rock and always got in Culpeppers face over his lack of vision. My twelve year old son knew this match up would rewrite the record books when he heard of the trade. Randy could rival Rice if he sticks with Brady!
