Pro Bowl update

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff November 14, 2007 08:49 AM

One month into Pro Bowl fan voting, the Patriots have players leading the AFC in seven different positions. The leaders:

  • WR Randy Moss
  • LT Matt Light
  • KR Wes Welker (kick returner)
  • IL Vince Wilfork (interior lineman)
  • ILB Tedy Bruschi
  • ST Larry Izzo (special teams)
  • P Chris Hanson

QB Tom Brady has the third highest vote total among all NFL players, but he is behind Colts QB Peyton Manning in the AFC.

WR Randy Moss has the fourth highest vote total of all players.

Fan voting on NFL.com accounts for one-third of the Pro Bowl selection process. Coaches and players account for the final two-thirds of the process. Fan voting continues through Dec. 11. Players and coaches vote Dec. 13.

Packers QB Brett Favre has the highest total of fan votes among NFL players.

    1. I find it to be a disadvantage for Tom Brady that when the NFL commercial runs for Pro Bowl Voting they show every QB but him. Clearly he is having a great year, so why is he 3rd?

Even Derek Andersen is having a great year but he is not on the NFL commercial either.

Of course they save Mr. 6 INTs and boo hoo my star receivers are out as the ending QB. Go figure.

    1. You'd think Hanson would be the least likely Pro Bowler in a season with this kind of offensive prowess.

    1. Once again it shows the ballot stuffing ablity of the mid-west voters... Tom Brady should be first in every fans list but because they have an affection for the "down home" Manning he is first.. I mean even after throwing 6 interceptions the other night guys like Ditka and the rest still insist he is better than Brady.. This will never change i guess... Everybody hates New England

    1. Don't overlook the fact that Peyton is pitching virtually every consumer product on the market right now. You can't turn on the TV these days without seeing his ugly mug. Americans have been overexposed to Peyton, so I am not surprised in the least that he is leading the voting over Tom Brady. It's a joke, but it's the country we live in.

    1. Brady won't be playing in the Pro Bowl anyway. Isn't that his Pebble Beach golf day? That "probable" right shoulder will need some rest around that time anyway.

He's got the MVP locked up and that's probably a higher honor than being selected to the Pro Bowl.

    1. in the grand scheme of things the pro bowl is the least important game of the year, so aside from being able to say "pro bowl qb" and perhaps some incentives in a contract it is far too early and a waste of energy to care very much about the pro bowl

    1. Who are the fools that are voting for me?

And who are the fools that are not voting for Tom Brady?

Really, Brady, Mankins, Moss, and Samuel are no brainers as starters IMO.

      Please.
The world loves to hate the Patriots.

    1. Who cares about the pro bowl anyways brady will get mvp an undefeated season and another ring so peyton can have his overated exposure and glory amongst a bunch of fans who dont care about the stats only about the image i find them funny and pathetic true football fans care about the stats. I hope peyton cries to his daddy when his record gets broken.

    1. The turnip turnout for manning is conclusive proof that the fans should have no say in voting.

    1. Vrabel, gostkowski, mankins, samuel? why is hanson getting votes?

Don't vote though, guys. We can sign our players for less if they don't make the pro bowl.

    1. chris hanson is not being voted in as a punter, he is being voted in as a holder! also, shouldnt vrabel be leading for OLB? i mean, career year, consistent. scoring for the offense! WE WANT VRABEL!

    1. TB, RM, VW and even WW are no brainers. But why aren't Pats fans voting for Vrabel (sorry Bruschi I love you but your not having a Pro Bowl season), Samuel, and Mankins. Chris Hanson is not a pro bowl kicker either. And doesn't Kyle Eckel have more special teams tackles then LI?

    1. They ALL should send a message to Roger Goodell and come down with that very contagious "Patriot's Disease" three days before the pro bowl and have to bow out. (If they are selected,of course)

    1. Wait. You guys HAVE a punter? Who knew?

And if Brady trails Peyton, that just means the Indy fans are better than you are at stuffing the ballot box. Get to work, and we'll see you Sunday night...

    1. Wes Welker is a no-brainer?

That's just homer talk. Leon Johnson is the best KR in the AFC.

    1. The veteran Ray Lewis is having a great year as a tackler. How is the N.E. ILB even in the picture? Speaking of homers this shouldn't even be close for ILB for the AFC.
