A look at some key NFL statistics and where the Patriots rank among the league's 31 other teams after 11 games (not including Cowboys-Packers game last night), while also adding this week's opponent, the Ravens, into the mix:

Points scored
This week: 1st (40.1 per game)
Last week: 1st (41.1 per game)
Ravens: 25th (16.5 per game)

Points allowed
This week: tied-5th (16.8 per game)
Last week: 3rd (15.7 per game)
Ravens: tied-17th (22.09 per game)

Turnover difference
This week: 1st (plus-16, 25 takeaways, 9 giveaways)
Last week: 1st (plus-13, 22 takeaways, 9 giveaways)
Ravens: 32nd (minus-11, 17 takeaways, 28 giveaways)

Third-down offense
This week: 1st (67 of 125, 53.6 percent)
Last week: 1st (57 of 109, 52.3 percent)
Ravens: 25th (59 of 161, 36.6 percent)

Third-down defense
This week: 5th (42 of 122, 34.4 percent)
Last week: 1st (34 of 109, 31.2 percent)
Ravens: 6th (57 of 159, 35.8 percent)

Red-zone offense
This week: 2nd (54 possessions, 39 TDs, 72.2 percent)
Last week: 2nd (49 possessions, 36 TDs, 73.5 percent)
Ravens: 30th (30 possessions, 11 TDs, 36.7 percent)

Red-zone defense
This week: 32nd (24 possessions, 17 TDs, 70.8 percent)
Last week: 31st (21 possessions, 14 TDs, 66.7 percent)
Ravens: 1st (35 possessions, 12 TDs, 34.3 percent)

  1. Thank you Mike, I had not realized that the Ravens were that poor a team. It does show that our Red Zone effort is lacking on defense even if you just look at the number of TD's scored regardless of the possessions. I am sure that the Patriots have stopped more drives before they get to the red zone more often than most other teams. The numbers on how we rank vs. other teams on drives vs. scores both in field goals and TD's would be interesting and a more accurate description on how the defense is doing I think. BD
