Weather forecast
FOXBOROUGH -- The Patriots are preparing for cold, wet conditions in Buffalo on Sunday night, and several players were asked about that during today's media access in the locker room. The game figures to have the coldest conditions the Patriots have played in this season.
ILB Junior Seau was asked how the weather might affect the team.
"It's not going to affect us a bit," he answered. "It comes down to tackling and doing what we've been doing the last nine weeks, and really staying focused. The weather will probably be cold and rainy or what have you, but the fact is that it's still football, you still have a helmet. You can come in and dry off afterwards."
FB Heath Evans was asked if the team can use the conditions to its advantage.
"I hope so, but I know there are a lot of coaches out there that are telling their players the same thing Coach Belichick tells us, which is that it is just weather, just another circumstance to deal with -- like picking up the blitz," he said. "So if you're prepared for it, you'll get it done. If you're not, it might affect you."
Patriots coach Bill Belichick noted in his press conference (10:50 a.m.) that cold, wet conditions can have the greatest impact on the kicking game. Along those lines, kicker Stephen Gostkowski touched on potentially battling the elements Sunday night.
"We've practiced in it during the week, Monday was cold, yesterday was really windy -- maybe Friday will be cold and windy," he said. "You just have to be ready for it. It's easier to practice in it all week and play in it Sunday, than if we were in the bubble all week and then just got thrown out there.
"Plus, we warm up before the game and your range changes. You know we're not going to be trying 55-yard field goals in the first quarter, when it's 30 degrees outside and windy. And the touchbacks, you can't count on those, but our kickoff team does a great job. I have to suck up my pride and realize that maybe a kick to the 5-yard line is a great kick in these conditions. You have to realize what you can do and not try to do too much, and not change your approach."
The Patriots are scheduled to practice inside the Dana-Farber Field House today, although Gostkowski said it's possible he could work outdoors in the rain.

Mike - I am in great fear of this game- Buffalo is a LOT colder than here - the crowd will be crazy - the Bills are aching for revenge over their multiple defeats - the Bills are playing well - The Pats have been sitting, drinking - getting fat and lazy - getting photographed by SI - which is the ultimate jinx. - This looks bad. I hope that no one gets hurt. This is TRAP. I hope that I am wrong.
cool
whoever that first idiot is couldn't be more wrong. what a lame list of excuses that won'tmatter at all. the patriots are sitting, drinking? Wow! what kind of a moron actually belives that? it's these kinds of idiots that keep morons like mark sclereth on the air because they look like geniuses in comparison. Pats 38 Bills 17. marshawn may not even play. if that happens, Pats 38 Bills 10.
Weather forecast looks pretty good for Sunday. Temperature might get around freezing by the end of the game.
From the NWS for Orchard Park:
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 39.
Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 25.
"The Pats have been sitting, drinking - getting fat and lazy..."
Which Patriots are you refering to? How does this look bad? The Pats will prepare for this game like any other and they will continue to play Patriot football. Have some faith, or did that take a bye this week too? Our boys will continue to get it done!!! GO PATRIOTS
I don't think the tempeture will be a factor. The weather is the same in both citys, but if their is heavy wind it will definitaly effect the passing game
I expect the Patriots have worked hard this past week and covered all the necessary factors on the game plan; no matter, what the weather is on the Buffalo grid-iron...both teams must play on the same surface....big deal...go out there and knock their blocks off!!...just keep on..... WINNING!!!
Randy Moss is who I worry about in this game. A thin, "mature" guy who's whole career has been indoors or on the West Coast.
rml140: Get a life ..... a TRAP? I guess, if they lose it's the end of the world? Certainly, there are, I hope more important things in your life than the PATS?
To rlm140: Veterans like Seymour and Harrison using their off week to work out is getting fat and lazy? Buffalo weather isn't drastically different than here. It just isn't. Even if it was, which team has more experience playing in the winter months??? (Two choices, one is wrong.) It is impossible for the Bills fans to be as loud as Indy was. How much of a jinx was it when Brady was on the cover of SI going into the Miami game? Or the previous seven times he was on the cover? Or is the jinx only defensive? 9-0, favored by 16, best coach on the planet, best receiver on the planet, best quarterback on the planet...... best team on the planet going against a team that had to struggle to the last second to fend off the winless Dolphins. How does this look bad? You are here by removed from Patriots Nation.
your wrong, this will be a great game with the Pats winning easily. I think they are just out to prove how good they are and that will get them through this
Mike
There is no trap in Buffalo. The Pats will walk out of there with a win. This team isn't the 2005 colts. Bill will keep there minds on the target and that is a win in Buffalo. This Pat team is focused. The bills are playing well in at The bills level. The pats are way beyond the bills.
Just a note to Pats fans. Even if you win the next couple of games, watch out for the new version of the '07 Miami Dolphins. John Beck at quarterback and Ricky Williams at running back. Your perfect season may just end here. If you go 19-0, congratulations from this Miami Dolphins fan. It would be a great feat of monumental proportions.
I have to believe that the people who post hee and worry about the Pats in bad weather are first year fans. Man, that is what this team is all about. Bad weather seems to only make them more hungry, and they seem to destroy most teams in bad conditions. This is NOT a fair weather team, this is the New England Patriots, three time CHSMPIONS, soon to be four. Pats 42 Bills 10 damn it!
Hey RLM.....Speak for yourself
I lived in Buffalo. I live in Boston. Believe me Buffalo weather is worse than here.
Come on. Think about it. The PATS, playing in the cold? what else could you ask for? this is a team of destiny. Teddy said it right when they went on a winning streak of 22 games. We had a one game winning streak, 22 times he said. Thats what makes this team great. they FOCUS. they know that the bills are playing good, and they will FOCUS. You gotta know coach has been up late with the game plan and the defense is out to prove something in this game. Its gonna be one of those games where the bills hang around till the 4th quater, and then BLAM, we go up by 14 or 20 and its out go the lights.
Since when have the Patriots been scared of cold weather ?
I have been watching them since 1985...and what I recall is actually the opposite.
Why do you think Kraft did not want to build a Dome?
NO WAY THIS GAME IS CLOSE. and do you really have that short of a memory our march to the superbowl in 2001 included the infamous snowbowl and if my memory serves correct the steelers game was bad weather to.
we can play in mud, cold, snow or what ever nature calls for. BRING IT ON!
RLM represents Patriot Nation (or, um, little village) circa 2000. And I respect that. There was a time, back in those dark ages, when I might've shared the fear, co-sponsored the not-necessarily-irrational sense that a Patriots run of decent fortune was about to get smashed. I remember well the playoffs in 76 and 78 and January, 1986.
This is simply a different era. Now, the Patriots are who we think they are: a juggernaut unlike any ever known to professional football. They don't lose this Sunday, or any game day this season, period.
Yeah, there's a lot of hubris on display in here.
I feel confident in the Pats, but you never know what can happen. This team is amazing, but we've lost to at least 1 or 2 bad teams even in our super bowl years just because #$%&! happens sometimes.
Everyone jumping on the dude who's a little nervous need to check themselves. There's a reason "don't count your chickens before they've hatched" is a proverb. It's good advice. Luckily for us fans, the Pats know that, even if a lot of us don't.
were can i find the real weather
There isn't any question about the Pats winning at Buffalo. This just a comment on the comments submitted here. How can anyone take a comment seriously when it is full of poor spelling? Shouldn't there be a penalty for this? Perhaps, a suspension from writing for a game or two might be in order.
Ralph Wilson Stadium has AstroTurf GameDay Grass. At least it won't be muddy after 2 days of rain.
Remember, this isn't the Drew Bledsoe Pats, but the Tom Brady Pats...The Bledsoe Pats probably would lose in Buffalo. The Brady Pats won't.
Buffalo's weather mey suck, but the wrost weather most of these Pat's guys have played in was January 2004. 40 below minus against the titans, and not much better against he colts, wind chlill is nothing. The bills are one of the youngest temas in football, they dont' even play in that crap. Not getting too far ahead of myself, but when did Ben Rholesburger become a great Q back. He is worse than Kordell Stewart, at least that guy had speed. Big Ben is Bledsoe with a weaker arm and more speed. Guess what the best passer when the steelers won in 2006 was randel- el. So i can't wait to play them.
The Pats can't play in cold, windy, rainy, or snowy conditions? The Snow Bowl game against Oakland, playoff games against the Titans, Indy, and the Steelers. It's not like this is going to be a blizzard with white out conditions and even if it is the Pats are a MUCH better team than the Bills especially without ML and with JP Loserman at QB. It's not hubris to say that a 9-0 team can beat a 5-4 that has 3 wins against the Jets + Fins, and wins against the Bungles + offensive-less Ravens. Even AS has only 2.5 sacks for the Bills. Unless they can consistently sack Brady they have no chance. Their secondary can't cover RM, WW, + DS. Repeat after me 10-0 Pats. BTW, it's 21 in a row the pats won + it's Tedy. As for the Fins fan they are the worst football team in the NFL. You must be into RW's stash.
Night games in Buffalo are bad news for opposing teams (because everyone there is so drunk). The Cowboys had their bus egged before the game even started a few weeks ago, prompting Tony Romo to proclaim that the Bills' fans were worse than those in Philly.
So if it snows, the snowballs will be flying towards the Pats' bench (Buffalo doesn't have mild mannered fans sitting at the 50 yard line like Gilette Stadium), and the hostile evnironment plus teh wind coming off of Lake Erie will make it miserable for fragile Randy Moss and Pretty Boy Brady. The Pats will feel like Ted Johnson after the Spy of the Year made him practice with a concussion.
the Irish mystic sees and knows all after watching Professional football since 1950. The Pats will win 37-10 IF there are no turnovers, No blindside hits on our hero Tom Brady, No Fumbles by the Running backs or return teams, No Injuries.
These are the facts and they are Irrefutable. Go Pats
I'm not sure I understand this article or many of these posts. Since when are the New England Patriots at a DISADVANTAGE in cold, windy, snowy (you know, New England) weather condition? This is the Patriots' forte. How many teams have struggled in the elements at Foxborough while the Pats thrived?
WATCH THE BILLS. THEY WILL PUT UP A TOUGH SHOWING, ALTHOUGH IT WONT BE ENOUGH. U DUDES R WAY TO GOOD. BUT IM PROUD OF MY BILLS, AFTER THE HORRID START, THE CRIPPLING INJURIES, AND OF COURSE, KEVIN EVERETTS BROKEN NECK. THEY LOST 2 HEARTBREAKERS ON LAST PLAY OR WED BY 7-2; IF WE GET THE QB SPOT SETTLED, MAYBE WE CAN CONTEND FOR PLAYOFFS IN 2008. GOOD LUCK PATS ON YOUR RACE TO THE RECORD..JUST NOT SUNDAY. GO BILLS...JOEY Z, BUFALO
