Harrison fined

By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff December 7, 07 04:21 PM

Patriots S Rodney Harrison was fined $5,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct in Monday night's win over the Ravens.

The NFL Network first reported the fine for Harrison.

The fine was levied because Harrison was deemed to have unncessarily taunted the opponent's coach on an interception return.

  1. Way to Go Roger... Its about time!
What kind of Msg do we send to the future athletes? thats its "COOL" to taunt coaches? Being a former college football player myself.. its the norm to curse and swear aduring plays (between players at any point), but not to a coach...
Coach BB is well respected amongst the players and none of them would dare try such... Anyone remember Ocho Cinco walking up to BB during the bengals game.? As attention craved crazy as he is... according to one of his team mates that's a family friend.. ocho said "Hello Coach, U know you my Hero Right?" and BB smiled right there..

  1. I wonder why Billick was not fined for his "kissing' with his lips at Rodney. Seems to me that both were equally guilty.

  1. Having Brian Billick blow kisses at Harrison should have been punishment enough.

  1. How in the world can that be an unsportmanlike conduct?!

  1. Any word on Ravens coach BB being fined by the NFL for blowing kisses to RH 3 times?! Isn't that unsportsmanlike conduct? Can you imagine our BB doing that? No way.

  1. Well, if he taunted the coach he deserved the fine, but I certainly hope the coach will also be fined for blowing kisses back at Rodney. That part was seen by the entire televised audience, so I assume the commissioner witnessed it as well. Not much in the role modeling department, that Mr. Billick.

  1. I would agree. Where's the fine for the two kiss offs by the opponent's coach - also rather unsportsmanlike, taunting, and frankly, not at all attractive.

  1. Wasn't it sanders who intercepted the pass and jawed at the Raven's coach? Was Harrison talking smack, too?

  1. Did Billick get fined for taunting back with the kisses? It seemed to be more two-way banter than taunting.

  1. Did the "opponent's coach" get fined for making suggestive sexual gestures towards Harrison?

    If not, he should have.

  1. Gator#72 does being a Division 3, 3rd stringer/waterboy really count as playing college ball?

If they are going to fine people, then both should be fined, and to my understanding Rodney was just talking smack in general to the sideline in general

  1. Rodney Harrison, you are my hero. Not only are you the hardest-working player in the league and in on every play, but you recognize when an opposing coach is "allowing" his team to play dirty...and then stick it to him at the appropriate time! Way to go, Hit Man!

  1. Holy crap, Boston is hysterical. Imagine if someone came over and got in Belichick's face like that, you idiots would herniate yourselves screaming for suspensions and firings.

  1. I think it clear that Rodney was reacting to the 'mauling' the Ravens were putting on the Patriot's offense. While I'm a old smash-mouth footballer who thinks that's how the game should be played, the rules were changes thanks to Bill Polian and the Colts so that can't be done anymore. The Ravens were clearly cheating and got caught for it in the end, and cried about it all the way home. Waaahhhh!!
BTW, I'm from Baltimore and have been a Ravens fan my whole life...
    OK, that was a lie

  1. The Steelers Pass D is overrated. The teams they have played have an average QB rating of 78. They have not faced a team that has a QB ratinging higher than 88.

  1. you guys are all idiots calling for BB to be fined for "blowing kisses" to harrison. harrison is a low-class, cheap-shot, substance abusing piece of garbage. On top of that, he's one of the biggest crybabies on the planet. I was happy to see him leave San Diego.

It is NEVER acceptable to taunt a coach in the NFL. Its the most respected position on the field and should always remain such. I would hope that Belichick put harrison in place after that.

Aside from this clown, I have much respect for the patriots organization and the dynasty that they have built. Unfortunately, harrison shows the dark, ugly underbelly that exists.
