Honor for Brady

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff December 12, 2007 04:11 PM

Patriots QB Tom Brady has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance Sunday against the Steelers.

Brady completed 32 of 46 passes (69.6 percent) for 399 yards with four touchdowns and a 125.2 passer rating as the Patriots improved to 13-0. Brady’s 399 passing yards are the second highest of his career and he has posted four of his top five career single-game yardage totals this season.

This is Brady’s 11th Player of the Week Award and fourth this season. He beat out eight other players for the honor -- Broncos QB Jay Cutler, Bills QB Trent Edwards, Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez, Browns RB Jamal Lewis, Colts QB Peyton Manning, Steelers RB Willie Parker, Jaguars RB Fred Taylor and Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson.

  1. Congrats to Brady!!! Putting 34 points on Steelers D, he earned it. Might as well hand him the MVP award now. Brady the MVP and Moss the co-MVP of the league.

    Hooray!!!

  1. Like a former boss once said, "Your reward for doing a good job is keeping it."

Move along, nothing to see here. The games are on Sunday.

that nearly cost the Cowboys the game.

  1. Thurston Howell,

You're missing something... Witten plays in the NFC. Brady is the "AFC" Offensive player of the week. Have you been hangin' out with MaryAnn and Ginger smokin' from Gilligan's hooka again?

  1. I think Anthony Smith of the Steelers deserves "worst, most embarrassed" defensive player of the week award as well.... He was just humiliated..

  1. The Dallas Cowboys are an NFC team, so it would be impossible for Witten to receive the award for AFC Player of the Week.

  1. Tom Brady received the award for the AFC conference and the Cowboys play in the NFC so if Jason Witten got the award you should check for the other conference's weekly honors.

  1. yeah Fred you're missing his fumble on the two yard line that would have cost them the game if Stover hadn't choked on that FG. Brady lit up one of the best defenses in the league for a near record day. Thats a nobrainer.

  1. lol yeah your missing something, the fact that Whitten fumbled at the goal line and almost cost his team the W. Get with the program, Brady's the best QB in the game.

  1. Fred,

What you are missing is that the Cowboys are in the NFC, so Witten can't win the AFC Offensive Player of the Week. By the way, Walpole's own Todd Collins of the Redskins won the NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

  1. Its about time Tom started getting the recognition he desrves..... we Pats fans have always known he's this good... but it took Moss and Welker... and a few other guys who can catch.... for everyone else to see it.

The Cowboys ???? Who are they ?
