Milestones in sight

By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff December 16, 2007 10:25 AM

FOXBOROUGH -- The green tarp remains on the field as workers continue to clear snow.

The screen on the scoreboard shows a pile of logs with a fire burning. Nice touch on this cold, snowy/rainy day.

Here are a few milestones to watch for today:

  • If the Patriots win, they will become just the second team in the NFL's 88-year history to begin a season with 14 straight victories, joining the 1972 Miami Dolphins.

  • If Asante Samuel intercepts one pass today, it will give him seven on the season and make him the first player in franchise history to record seven or more interceptions in back to back seasons.

  • If Kevin Faulk scores a touchdown, it will be the 25th of his career. He will become the 16th player in team history to record 25 or more touchdowns.

  • If Wes Welker catches two touchdown passes today, it will give him 10 on the season. He would become just the fourth player in team history to reach that milestone in a season, joining Stanley Morgan (1979, 1986), Jim Colclough (1962) and Randy Moss (2007).

    1. I don't know about you, but given the slop they are playing in, I sure hope Troy Brown is back returning kicks instead of Chad Jackson.
