Offensive participation
A look at the snaps played by offensive skill position players against the Ravens:
WR Randy Moss -- 65 of 69 snaps
WR Wes Welker -- 65 of 69
WR Donte' Stallworth -- 56 of 69
TE Benjamin Watson -- 42 of 69
RB Kevin Faulk -- 36 of 69
TE Kyle Brady -- 32 of 69
RB Laurence Maroney -- 29 of 69
WR Jabar Gaffney -- 8 of 69
RB Heath Evans -- 4 of 69
LB/FB Junior Seau -- 4 of 69
LB/TE Mike Vrabel -- 4 of 69
RB Kyle Eckel -- 0 of 69
WR Kelley Washington -- 0 of 69
(snaps include four penalties that don't count as official plays)
ANALYSIS: One aspect that stood out was that Jabar Gaffney sat idle on the sidelines for seven complete series -- 53 snaps -- before coming onto the field for the final two offensive snaps and making his 8-yard touchdown catch. Gaffney had seemingly been kept on the sidelines after dropping a pass on third down of the team's third drive, but more than made up for it with his TD grab. ... The only plays in which Randy Moss and Wes Welker came off the field was when the Patriots went to their goal-line package four times. ... RB Laurence Maroney played his most snaps (29) since Week 3 against the Bills, when he had 34. ... TE Benjamin Watson played his most snaps (42) since returning from his ankle injury as he returned as a member of the two-minute offense. The Patriots had been using four-wide offense in two-minute situations in recent weeks.

Is Welker getting shut down now finally because teams are putting a corner on him (last night this was Ivy) instead of a linebacker? Is it that simple?
