Pats chatter

By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff December 30, 2007 01:15 AM

Reaction from the Patriots' locker room:

DE Richard Seymour
(on a 16-0 record)
"We always got everyone's best shot. I think that is what makes it so special. I think it will be a disappointment if we don't finish the way that we want to. ... We never really looked at it like, 'hey, let's try to go 16-0.' It wasn't something that we talked about a whole lot. It was great to do it. I don't know how to put it in perspective at this point right now. It's something that when you walk away from the game one day, you will be able to look back and say that is a special team."

LB Tedy Bruschi
(on the undefeated season)
"Now that the regular season is over, I'm going to enjoy it for maybe two days instead of one or so. We realize that we have bigger goals to accomplish. The tournament is starting now and there are a lot of teams in it that feel like they have a chance. They should feel that way because every team that has made the playoffs has a legitimate chance to be a world champion. So we have to forget about this and move on to who is next."

WR Wes Welker
(on the season)
"It's been a special year. We have had some good games and have been able to fight back and win some. It means a great deal. It's been a long, hard season."

TE Benjamin Watson
(on the perfect season)
"I never thought about it happening. It's only been the last month that we have been thinking about it and it started to weigh a little more heavily on us."

  1. I am a third generation Bostonian living in Phoenix. I look forward to welcoming Pats fans for the Superbowl. Come and enjoy the sunshine! Enjoy the Superbowl! And then let's root for the Celtics and hope we Bostonians can have a trifecta with 3 championships!

  1. David: I find it refreshing he's being honest. He wants the record for his team only. Nothing wrong with that. Why does he have to be disingenuous and give a fluff quote?

  1. First, Phoenix Pats Fan, come down to the VIne, in Phoenix, and join with us for the playoffs. Second, I too have been a long time fan, from the first day in 1960, and never in my mind could I ever envision something like this happening, as well as the 21 game win streak and, of course, the three Super Bowl Champion ships.

Through all of the "bad" seasons, to have all that has happened, this decade, is a dream and the win streaks, the unbelievable length of them, is something that is way beyond comprehension, and the magnitude of them is so very hard to grasp....it is all like a dream, and now, with the Super Bowl here, in Arizona, if the Pats are in it, will be a two week period like never before for me, and for all of our great Pats fans here in Arizona. 1. Hey Mike Allen, congratulations and well done for living in the right place at the right time! I've enjoyed your posts, keep it up.

16 of 19 well done, now it's time to finish. If they do it the way I think they will, you will be having some nice parties out that way! Enjoy them, one game at a time. For time is fleeting, but I want this year to go on forever...
