Troy Brown checks in

By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff December 14, 2007 12:21 PM

FOXBOROUGH – Veteran receiver Troy Brown spent some time answering questions today in the team’s locker room. He was asked if he feels frustration from not having been activated for a game.

“Any competitor wants to be out there in the game,” Brown responded. “I’m out there and I’m doing my job, doing what I have to do, they’re doing what they have to do. The guys are doing well. As far as that’s concerned, when the team is doing well, that knocks the frustration level down quite a bit. The guys are winning, so you can’t help but be happy. It’s a good atmosphere around here now. Everything is fine. Obviously, any ballplayer wants to be playing in the games but that’s not the case right now. I have to keep doing what I have to do, worry about what I can control, and let the rest of it fall into place.”

Brown was also asked if he feels the need to play in a regular-season game as a tune-up for the playoffs.

“We’ll see what happens,” he answered. “I’m doing everything I can to get myself ready to play. Like I have to go out there today, and you never know what might happen. I just have to be ready to play at any time. That’s the mindset I have and that’s what I try to carry every week and every day, not just on the field but in the meeting rooms, keeping myself ready to go.”

  1. Mike, is there a chance that TB will play in the Jets game? Generally Pats players don't talk if they're not going to play. Which leads me to believe that he'll be on the 45 roster for the Jets game and be available to play.

  1. I see a lot of starters out this weekend to rest nagging injuries and guys like Brown should start in place of welker or stallworth to keep the team fresh.

  1. Troy was a great player. But after this year, he should retire.

  1. Brown should start in place of Welker or Stallworth? Hey, why don't we bring in more linebackers on social security and let Grogan run the offense for a half?

  1. Talk about a late season "sign on".....

Send Troy in on the last drive of the Jets game. Fake an end around and let him throw downfield to a sprinting Brady....

  1. You know who should retire? So called Pats fans that take shots at older Pats players with 3 Super Bowl rings. Like Troy Brown and Tedy Bruschi. When you play 15 years in the NFL and catch 557 balls for 6,366 yards and 82 TD's you can talk. Until then get a clue. BB wouldn't keep him around if he couldn't help. He'll never be the player he was in 2001-2002 but he isn't done yet. And you should learn to show his some respect.
