Jaguars up next

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff January 6, 2008 07:37 PM

The Patriots' opponent for Saturday night's playoff game at Gillette Stadium has been determined. It will be the Jacksonville Jaguars.

With the third-seeded Chargers beating the sixth-seeded Titans today, it ensured that the Jaguars -- the lowest remaining seed -- would be the Patriots opponent.

The teams have not met this season.

The most recent meeting between the teams was last Dec. 24, when the Patriots traveled to Jacksonville and earned a 24-21 victory that clinched the AFC East title.

In the wild-card round of the 2005 playoffs, the Patriots hosted the Jaguars and won 28-3.
