Hey Mike - any idea why they're using Pompei from Chicago as the pool reporter for the Patriots practice? I know he's good, but wouldn't it be better to use a beat writer from Boston that has been covering the team on a day-to-day basis?

Why is some one from Chicago covering the best team in land ?

Is he there to write about the team Chicago wish they had ?

Burkie, being assigned a pool reporter is a high honor. It is assigned by the Pro Football Writers Association. John Clayton of ESPN is the pool reporter for the Giants.

Why is this 'pool reporter' making specific comments about Brady's ankle ?

Is that his job to do so ?

I do not remember a 'pool reporter' giving updates on Terrel Owens's broken fibula and ankle 3 years ago ? There was no such report.

So why is there one on Brady ?

Video killed the newspaper star that didn't embrace it; you're doing a great job with the video updates...this is the future.

Also curious if you have to carry the helmets around with you or if they have some available there.
