Pats react to Brady
Patriots QB Tom Brady was named the Associated Press Most Valuable Player today, earning all but one vote.
Here is some reaction from team members, as provided by the Patriots media relations staff:
Brady
"As I have learned over the course of my time with the Patriots, the most meaningful accomplishments are always the ones I have celebrated with my teammates. I am certainly proud of the success that we have enjoyed so far this season. I consider myself extremely fortunate to play for an organization like the New England Patriots. The Kraft family, Coach Belichick, and all of my teammates and coaches have created a winning tradition that we all are proud to be a part of. For that I am most thankful. I have always been a huge football fan and will always have great respect for the history of this game. I am flattered to join such an esteemed list of players, many of whom I consider the greatest of all-time. I hope that I can set as great of an example for kids around the world as the previous MVP's did for me. I am grateful to all of the voters for any consideration I was given. It is a tremendous honor and I am sure it is one that my family will one day look back on with great pride. There is still plenty of football to be played this season and I look forward getting back on the field with my teammates and preparing for next weekend's game. Thank you.”
Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick
"He deserves it. I have thought for a long time that there is no past or present quarterback I'd rather coach than Tom Brady and I am more certain of that every year he plays."
Defensive Co-Captain, Linebacker Tedy Bruschi
“Coming from a team that doesn’t celebrate individual accolades, I think this is one that we all will embrace as a team. Tommy is being recognized as the most outstanding performer over the entire year. I am proud to be a teammate of his. I think we have all been fortunate to see the incredible year that he has had. However, I think he would be the first to tell all of us that there is more work to be done.”
Defensive Co-Captain, Linebacker Junior Seau
“There are two types of players in the league. One that wants to be great and one that NEEDS to be great. Tommy positions himself every day to be great for every game. It is no surprise that he performs the way he does. Congratulations, Tom.”
Pro Bowl Left Tackle Matt Light
“I can’t think of anyone more deserving, not only for this season, but for the way that he has led this team over the years. He is responsible for a lot of the things that we have accomplished. I hope it gives people a better understanding of what he is like. Off the field too, he is the same kind of guy. Just the way he conducts himself and the professionalism that he shows. I am just happy for him. He deserves it.”
Safety Rodney Harrison
“It is definitely well-deserved. He is one of the hardest working guys that I have ever been around and one of the best football players I have ever been around. He is also a guy that always puts the team first, ahead of himself, since I have known him. It is well deserved and I am extremely happy for him.”
Tight End Benjamin Watson
“Tom Brady deserves it. He is a great leader on this team. There is nobody else in the league that I believe deserves it more than him. He has done everything, not just on the field, but off the field, to lead this team. He deserves it.”
Defensive Co-Captain, Linebacker Mike Vrabel
“He has been our MVP for quite a while. It has certainly been an honor to work with him and watch him prepare every week. It comes as no surprise to any of us, that’s for sure. Congratulations.”
Wide Receiver Wes Welker
“I am excited for him. It is something that Tom totally deserves. He has worked hard to get to this point. He is not a guy who puts a lot of emphasis on something like this and it is certainly not his goal to go out and win (MVP), but I am sure it is something that he will look back on and be very proud of. Being his teammate, I know that all of us are very proud of him.”
Defensive Lineman, Richard Seymour
“It couldn’t happen to a better guy. He is such a team leader and such a genuine person at heart. He deserves everything that he gets. It couldn’t happen to a better person. He really puts in the work and takes full advantage of the weapons around him, too. It is a tremendous honor to be voted one of the elite players in the best league in the world. I am glad that he is on our team."
Wide Receiver Donté Stallworth
“I think that label ‘M-V-P’ sums it up. That really says it best. What it means, what it stands for, what it is and the guys that have won it in the past, that is everything he is.”
Defensive Co-Captain, Defensive Lineman Ty Warren
“Tom is an amazing player. Every year I have been here, he has always been the MVP in my eyes. Hands down. He is going to be remembered as one of the best that ever played in this league and he has definitely put on a clinic this year with the guys that he has had around him. He deserves it and I am happy for him.”
Fullback Heath Evans
“He is definitely the most humble superstar I have ever met and there is no one more deserving than him. He is truly a superstar. There is nobody like him that I have ever met. Every detail. No stone left unturned. Constantly preparing himself and everyone around him and that is what makes a true champion.”
Linebacker Adalius Thomas
“I think it is a well-deserved honor. He played great throughout the year and I hope he continues to play that way. He is definitely deserving of it. “

Does Ron Borges still get a vote? If so, there's your holdout there!
Congratulations Tom Brady!!! You are the best ever!
I am very, very happy for Tom. I remember being in the old Foxboro Stadium te first game that Brady started. What a thrill And, the funny thing is that there were a lot of fans wearing Bledsoe jerseys and they had pinned a hand written "Brady" over the Bledsoe nameplate. Little did we know then what the future was about to bestow upon us.
Anyway, the way I read Brady's comments, it seems apparent to me that it was written some time ago, in anticipation. CONGRATS TO TOM BRADY...he deserves it, and now, on the fourth finger of his right hand, another ring in February would be the icing on the cake.
who was the one guy that voted for Favre??
I'd love to know who to hate! Who was the ONE voter who voted for Brett Favre?
Someone voted for Brett Favre with the year Brady has had? With all due respect to a great football player, no one deserves it like Tom this year. He is an unbelievable talent with the attitude of someone trying to make the team. He always puts the team first which is a big reason why he is the best individual player.
So who was the one voter that voted for Farve? Was he from WI or IN? Just guessing...
Ok? Who voted for BF? Did Felger have a vote? Patriots Nation wants to know Mike! Find out for us.
Congrats Tom!
(As for the Favre vote, I bet it was Dr. Z)
I believe the lone vote for Favre came from a voter who works for the Sports XChange.
"who was the one guy that voted for Favre??"
Peter King I bet. He's got his nose so far up Favre's...
King voted for Brady, he listed his as MVP since week 4
Congratulations Tom. It's been great watching you and the team this year. Keep up the good work and good luck next week.
CONGRATULATIONS TOM, you earned it !!!!!
You have been THE BEST for a long time. It's about time they noticed.
Everything you have done has been a storybook journey that is an inspiration for
the kids of America. Your story gives hope to so many young aspiring kids. It shows that 6th rounds draft picks and back players just need to be recognized by a Talent Evaluator like BB to excel at their game.
Well done, now let's win a Super Bowl.
Tom, It will be at least another 35 years before any other team comes close to the Patriots record and when they do, they're going to need a quarterback with qualities unknown to man at this point. You're second to none and deserve every accolade possible. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Mike! It's not Howard Balzer from The Sports Xchange is it? He voted for BB for coach of the year so he probably wouldn't be able to vote for both. Any chance we could get a full breakdown of who did and didn't vote for TB and BB for these awards? I'm sure Pats Nation would love to know this info.
We have thought for a long time that there is no past or present quarterback better than Tom. Congratualations!

Your friend Peyton
To Danuta Forbes:
POTD!!!
Your post was absolute MONEY!! All the following posts will pale in comparison.
Congratulations not only to Tom Brady but more so to the parents that raised him. You (plural) did an exceptional job. What a class act your son is and tough as nails to boot. All the accolades are to you and the three older sisters that whooped (sp?) his ass into shape. Great to be a fan of the NEPs.
thank you tom brady for what you did for us.

Where's Moss' comments?
Congrats #12. Go on IndyStar.com, they have a special section where you can, as they say "watch Peyton Mannings historic marhc through the record book." The one record he will never have is most wins in the superbowl. They do fail to mention that one...
Tom, I tell my son about the days of Bobby Orr and Larry Bird and now someday he will tell his son about the days of Tom Brady. Congrats to you, your teammates and your coaches who made it possible. We fans are very proud of you all.
Tom Brady -humble superstar, you got to ge kidding. He's good, I'll give him that, but he will never be in the same class as Brett Favre,Peyton Manning, John Elway, Dan Marino, Joe Montana, Troy Aikman, and many others, They are true legends, him and the pats deserve each other!
