Playoff success
The following is a note from the Patriots' media relations department that caught the eye:
The Patriots have won 14 playoff games this decade, tying the 1970s Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys for the most playoff victories by any NFL team in either the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s or 2000s.
Pittsburgh and Dallas both won 14 playoff contests between 1970 and 1979, while New England has won 14 postseason games from 2000 to the present.
Most playoff wins in a decade:
Patriots (2000s) -- 14
Cowboys (1970s) -- 14
Steelers (1970s) -- 14
49ers (1980s) -- 13
Cowboys (1990s) -- 12
Redskins (1980s) -- 11
Bills (1990s) -- 10
Packers (1960s) -- 9
Packers (1990s) -- 9
(Note: The playoff format changed in 1990, so the Patriots had more opportunities to win playoff games when advancing from the wild-card round.)

I am a HUGE fan of the Pats and I got to get to the Super Bowl. Does anyone know where to get the cheapest tickets? I was on Stubhub - and they are way too expensive...I found tix on a charity auction site that is selling them for a pretty good price so far http://www.charityfolks.com/cfauctions/auction_verticalngo.asp?slrid=612. I heard that if you buy from these guys you can deduct the tickets from your taxes…anybody know anywhere else to get tickets (and tax deductible preferably!!)
By next year we will have blown away all others on the list. GO PATS
I thought this was interesting. So I put together a list of playoff wins per team since 2000 (this counts the 1999/Super Bow XXXiV season since the Playoff for that season were in 2000)
Couple of interesting notes:
All but 8 teams have won at least one playoff game.
All but 10 teams have won at least two.
20 of the 32 teams have won playoffs games in two different seasons since 2000
Miami has won 2 (1 in 1999 playoffs, 1 in 2000 playoffs)
Dallas is one of the 8 teams that have not won any playoff games

Mike,
There are more playoff games now. This is a silly stat if you don't put it in context.
You're better than that.
Ben--ease up on Mike, OK? He's giving us tons of information through the blog and his articles, which we all should thank him for. So he missed or omitted the nugget about more playoff games happening in today's NFL. He added that to the entry, so be happy that he's listening (reading). Next time, just mention it without the editorializing.
um, he put that in context if you read the whole post.
