Travel day

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff January 26, 2008 06:30 AM

Today is a travel day to Phoenix. The plan will be to check in later tonight upon arrival.

The Patriots will leave on Sunday.

In a quick scan this morning, one story that caught the eye was Christopher L. Gasper's report in the Boston Globe on Vince Wilfork, as Wilfork was fined $5,000 for his facemask penalty against Michael Turner in the AFC Championship game.

Wilfork called the fine "ridiculous."

  1. For a guy who claims not to be dirty, this season is quickly changing Wilfork's reputation. I wouldn't be surprised if Rodney started getting some competition for that dirtiest player in the NFL.

  1. Goodell really has it in for Wilfork, and the Patriots. Hopefully he will be on the Podium and have to hand the trophy to BB and BB punches the Commish , the former Jet employee, in the mouth. I know, it wont happen, but I am sure that it would be fitting.

  1. i don't recall the specifics of this play, but it seems the punishment was already meted out on the field. i'm impressed he admits the jacobs fine was legit (i agree), which i think lends credibility to his complaint here. what next, $5000 for every encroachment? $10000 for being the 12th man on the field? is the NFL strapped for money? do they have a fine quota for january, which is quickly drawing to a close?
