Welcome to Gillette
FOXBOROUGH -- Welcome to Gillette Stadium, where the Patriots host the Jaguars tonight in an AFC Divisional playoff round game (8 p.m.).
It is unseasonably warm at this time, 46 degrees, and the temperature is only expected to drop into the upper 30s by kickoff. There is little wind to contend with, so conditions shouldn't be much of a factor in the kicking or passing games.
It was just four years ago that the Patriots were hosting the Titans in an AFC Divisional playoff game at Gillette. The temperature that night -- on Jan. 10, 2004 -- was 4 degrees. There were also winds whipping through at 10 miles per hour that night.
So all in all, the teams couldn't ask for better conditions tonight.
On the playing field, in addition to the Patriots logo at midfield, there is a red, white and blue playoff logo. The rectangular playoff logo is directly under the Patriots logo. It includes the official NFL symbol along with the words "2007 Playoffs".
Jerome Boger's crew has been assigned to work tonight's game.
We'll have more throughout the night.

Does anyone think that Chad Jackson will be activated? I heard something about him being active for KR purposes.
As I get ready to go to the game, I always make it a point to do one last check of your blog, for injuries, the ref crew, and whatever else you feel we should know. I always start to get the excited, quick rush of adrenaline when I see the subject line, "Welcome to Gillette." It is quite an amazing ride ride these Pats are giving us, and Mike, you do a helluva job reporting on everything Patriots. Like Gammons, Ryan, MacMullan, and the late Will McDonough, you are a great Boston sports reporter who is clearly a step above the rest. Thanks for the great work!
Dumb question from a Panters fan -- what the hell are the cannon/gun looking logos on either side at mid field?
ditto on the cannon-gun things... What are they? Here are some guesses?
Cell towers?
Face-masks (with lightening)?
