Balmer a Seymour fan

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff February 23, 2008 11:59 AM

INDIANAPOLIS -- When the Patriots are scouting defensive ends for their 3-4 system, they are generally looking for big, stout players who can play a two-gap style. North Carolina's Kentwan Balmer fits the profile.

Along those lines, Balmer told reporters today that he admires Richard Seymour's style of play.

"If I was gonna be compared to anybody, I’d want to be compared to Richard Seymour," Balmer said. "He’s a very versatile player. He plays hard. He plays with passion."

Balmer added that he has experience in 3-4 alignments. Although the Tar Heels play a 4-3 style, the team does have a specific package in the 3-4.
