BC players make positive impression
INDIANAPOLIS -- On Friday, QB Matt Ryan impressed media members with his poise and polish in a press-conference setting. Today, the honors went to OL Gosder Cherilus.
Cherilus spoke at a roundtable here in the media center, impressing his questioners by looking them in the eye and answering with detail and thought.
He raved about Ryan, calling him the greatest leader he's ever been around, and engaged a Kansas City-based reporter who was curious about the origin of his unusual first name.
"There is no story behind the name. I've been asked the question many times, so I went back home and asked my father 'Where did the name come from?' At first, he said to me 'You don't like your name?' I just told him I wanted to have an answer for those who asked the question. He told me he just wanted something unique that nobody else has. That's what he came up with. Pretty creative, huh?"
Cherlius said he has met with anywhere from 20-25 teams at the combine. The Patriots, who spoke with him at the Senior Bowl, are not among the group.
