Lua released too

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff February 26, 2008 05:11 PM

The Patriots announced the release of veteran outside linebacker Rosevelt Colvin today. The team also announced the release of linebacker Oscar Lua, a 2007 seventh-round draft choice.

Lua spent last season on injured reserve after hurting his knee in the preseason.

  1. interesting. Not that it's ever easy to figure the Pats' moves, but this off season has been very confusing. They have yet to re-sign Moss, they have let go of Asante, Stallworth, Wilson, Colvin and Gaffney (I think). And now they release Lua. Unless his injury was more serious than we know of, I don't get why they would cut him. Some of these moves seem like gambles to me, given the lack of our own high picks this year and next and the salary cap situation. Has Bill Belichick gone Bill Bonkers??

  1. Not a huge issue here. He might not have fully recovered from the knee injury. A possible practice squad signing with him though.

  1. It's only weed people!!!!!!! When is this country going to snap out of it and realize that it's a plant and it's much less addictive and deadly than tobacco.

At least it was only a citation. If he was in NH he would 've been cuffed, stuffed and treated like a criminal.

  1. Offseason. Concert. Some pot. Big deal. Give me a break.
Any physician will tell you that marijuana is less harmful for the body than alcohol or tobacco. Just because the east coast is behind in the decriminalization process doesn't mean Faulk's hastle should be headline news.
That a grown man chooses to smoke some marijuana in a recreational manner, in the off-season no less, should be a small issue, and if it wouldn't create a slippery slope, I'd say a non-issue.
