Paxton follow-up
The agent for Lonie Paxton touched on the one-year deal reached with the Patriots this morning.
"While Lonie's ultimate goal is to be one of those very rare players who plays for just one team his entire career, we talked about a number of different structures and a 1 year deal worked out best for Lonie in this instance," Paul Sheehy wrote in an email.
"He's considered by every personnel guy I know in the NFL to be one of, if not the best at his position. He is fortunate enough to have a head coach and person like Scott Pioli who were patient enough to allow us the opportunity to experience unrestricted free agency and we didn't need much time to make a call on this once the contact and signing period opened last night. We had 2 other teams pursue hard very early this morning, but ultimately, it's a great 1 year deal and Lonie is thrilled to return to the Patriots once again.
"He is so emotionally entrenched in the Boston community, and the Patriots organization that it would have taken a contract of epic proportions from a team that has a chance to compete in the post season every year for Lonie leave at this time. Ultimately, Lonie is exactly where he wanted to be when this process started."

Love the comment that HE WANTS TO BE IN THE POSTSEASON EVERY YEAR !
Why can't more athletes be like this ?
Great long snapper indeed. When is the last time you remember his messing up any snap of sorts ? Because I can not
Cheers to doing snow angels on the Super dome turf after beating the Rams FAIR AND SQUARE !
Paxton deserves to be in the Patriots Hall of Fame!
Paxton, Wright and Washington... This should really fire up the fan base. How bout some real signings to justify the highest tix in NFL?
I am a HUGE Lonie Paxton fan from Kansas and I am so thrilled to hear he will be staying with the Patriots! HE is the BEST Long snapper in the NFL and I would hate to see the Patriots loose him!
I have to 100% agree with Tash that Lonie deserves to be in the Patriots Hall of Fame!
You Rock Lonie!!!
Blair from Canada -- I echo your wish but there aren't that many in Paxton's position where salary is low enough that playoff shares matter.
