The elusive Ernie Adams
INDIANAPOLIS -- I just ran into the elusive Ernie Adams, who is attending the Scouting Combine. The mysterious Bill Belichick confidant whose official title with the team is football research director couldn't have been nicer, but had very little to add to the ongoing videotape violations saga that continues to plague the Patriots.
Adams was asked whether he was surprised that the signal-stealing flap was still such a hot topic. He replied, "You guys need something to put in your papers. You guys need something to put in there. I'm sure you guys will keep grinding it out."
Adams was asked why the Patriots didn't just come out and explain in detail what they were doing with the video they shot of other teams' signals.
He said, "The league came in and they did their investigation and it's closed in their mind and it's closed in ours. End of story."
If only that were true.
On a lighter note, Adams talked about the stories that were written about him at the Super Bowl, including one by colleague Bob Hohler .
"My friends tell me they really enjoy them," he said with a smile.
So how come he never talks for them?'
"I have better things to do, especially during Super Bowl week," Adams said.

Is he the one that suggested going for it on 4th and 13? That would knock him down a rung in my book.
"If only that were true." ??
Actually, as of now, it is closed. Unless that Walsh character comes out with actual evidence, the case is closed.
It's funny how you can tell who wrote each post on this blog - Reiss' posts are usually un-biased and well written. Gasper's posts, on the other hand, reek of bias and a lack of appreciation for football.
i LOL. your sanctimonious "if only it were true", is so classic. the reason it is not a done deal is because you gents must beat the dead horse just as the gentleman said. You are pathetic. You do not have any sense of how to entice a reader. It is sad really. You are an abysmal failure at your job. Honestly is there anything else you could do. You seem bright enough, you are just not cut out for this. One must reach readers, not please them, but reach them to do this function.
What's exactly so "sanctimonious" about what the blogger said? Take a little ride on the internets, Welbourn, and see what the outside world is saying. As much as Pats fans want the story to disappear, it's not going to, and guys like Uncle Ernie aren't going to be able to hide in the fog anymore.
