Welcome to Indy

INDIANAPOLIS -- Welcome to Indianapolis, home of the NFL's annual combine. Each year, the event seems to grow a bit more.

This was evident by signs and logos at the airport, promoting the combine. I was a bit surprised to see one logo for the combine on the jet bridge coming off the plane. Also, local hotels are giving guests key cards with the combine logo.

Once again, Massachusetts-based Reebok is sponsoring the combine.

Today is really the quiet before the storm, as reporters, agents, team officials, and players begin arriving.

In addition to player workouts and interviews, here are a few other notable happenings this week:

  • Atlanta, Oakland, and Kansas City will be part of a coin flip to determine where each team selects in the first round -- 3, 4, or 5.

  • Agents have their annual NFL Players Association meeting.

  • The Competition Committee is scheduled to meet with players to discuss and review rule changes.

    1. Mike,
Is the LB Rivers from USC in Indy? I seem to recall a high draft pick LB from USC
awhile back, Willie somebody, who worked out pretty well.
They play fast and physical in the PAC 10 ( or is it 12?) and fast and physical is what they need. This kid looks like this years Patrick Willis. By the way, when is Willis' contract with 49'ers up. Never too early to start planning.
Thanks and have fun in Indy. Great city and great people.
