Wright: 2nd round tender

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff February 28, 2008 06:05 PM

As expected, the Patriots have placed the second-round tender on restricted free agent DL Mike Wright today.

The tender is worth $1.41 million. Any team that signs Wright to an offer sheet would have to surrender a second-round draft choice if the Patriots don't match.

Since Wright entered the league as a rookie free agent, the Patriots ran the risk of losing him without compensation if they had given him the low tender ($927,000).

Wright is the team's top backup at nose tackle. He also plays end and on special teams.

  1. Mike, can you clear this article up? You say he was given the 2nd round tender, then later in the article it says Wright got the low (player's draft round) tender. Just wondering which it was. Thanks
