Zach Thomas to Cowboys

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff February 23, 2008 12:49 PM

INDIANAPOLIS -- Free-agent LB Zach Thomas, who visited with the Patriots at Gillette Stadium on Monday, has agreed to a one-year deal with the Cowboys, his agent Drew Rosenhaus said here at the combine.

Thomas had also visited with the Saints, but the draw of playing in his home state swayed his decision.

  1. Good news.

We do not need another small, old linebacker on our depth charts

    Wonder what the price was

  1. no big loss, in his good years in Miami, he had DT's-Tim Bowens 6'3" 300+ and Darryl Gardner 6'6" 300+ in front of him taking on guards, centers and tackles...

  1. This is not a bad deal for the Pats; smart and experienced are fine, but they need to get atheltic at the LB position. There were too few plas made from that position the last half of the year

  1. Funnily enough, I'd delighted that he's signed for the Cowboys. This is a guy, a very good player, who has chosen to go back to Dallas because that's where he's from, as opposed to whoever will give him the biggest check. You watching this Asante?

  1. Zach Thomas probably signed with Dallas because he could see the storm of SPYGATE returning to haunt belichick & brady....as bad as these two want their cheating to just go away, it wont. As far as Thomas' age, pat riots didn't have a problem signing old man seau, so age isn't it. seau was so shallow he "retired" to get out of San Diego, then, surprise!! suddenly decided he wasn't done playing, and "unretired" so he could get a superbowl ring........OOOPPSSS.....Giants got in the way of that one, didn't they?????

  1. Great pick up for the Boys from Dallas. they already have a quick defense with pro-bowlers and this will give them a leader with experience
