Sam Aiken in the fold
The Patriots hosted receiver Sam Aiken on a free-agent visit, and have reached an undisclosed contract agreement with him.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Aiken is considered a strong special teams performer. His receiving production has been limited, as he has 19 career receptions.
The Patriots are familiar with Aiken from having competed against him the last five seasons in Buffalo. The Bills selected Aiken in the fourth round of the 2003 draft.
Aiken will view to become a core member of the Patriots' special teams units.

special teams? Does anyone no more about him? I know Bill B. has always spoken high of Bills special teams. Does he just cover?
With Moss signed, now maybe we can get everyone off suicide watch. As far as Aiken is concerned, I like the signing. He is a big receiver with strength. First and foremost he is a solid, solid special teams contributor. He is also a very good blocker as a receiver and doesn't back down from anyone. He is physical once he catches the ball and does break tackles but his real value is a ST demon. He is a hard worker on and off the field and a definite character guy the Pats always look for. He will be last year's Kelley Washington while Washington moves up the depth chart as a receiver.
i guess it's better than signing Clay Aiken!
Nikos, you stole my thunder.
I was just about to comment how this move seems to signify a "promotion" for Kelley Washington. Perhaps the Pats seek to reward Washington for his physical play on Special Teams last year. I'm sure he wouldn't mind creeping into that #4 WR slot, which seems more likely now that Stallworth is gone and Troy Brown likely retiring.
Could someone Please take the SB score off the home page
Thanks Nikos
Being a Tarheel fan, i watched Aiken play receiver at UNC. It was during the John Bunting years, and therefore he suffered from a lack of exposure. He is however, a physical specimen and can dominate most cornerbacks and outrun any safety.
Would love to see him get more opportunities to show his skills.
Re: The SB score. I agree. I wrote to boston.com a couple of weeks ago asking them to do just that to no avail.
Isn't this paper owned by the NYT group? Must be a Tisch dictat! It is a clever ploy to rub it in every morning. Enough said.
I could meet him when he wad a student at James Kenan High and he proved then who he is now: a great person and player as well. He is going to be doing great there since he is such a professional. Carlos Alonso
