Eagles' perspective on Moss

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff March 5, 2008 09:20 AM

The Philadelphia Daily News writes today on the Eagles' pursuit of Randy Moss, with comments from coach Andy Reid and team president Joe Banner.

"It was a longshot," Reid says in the article, "but there was a little bit of a door open there.

"Randy was always going to go back to the Patriots. He made that clear. I just inquired about it and took a shot at it. I understand why he went back there. Life is good for him right now. It's the best it's ever been in his career. He's a great kid, and he is having a great career with the Patriots, and there was no question he was going back there."

  1. Andy Reid can't take care of his own kids, never mind football players! Also, why would any good receiver want to play in Phili? They traded their one good quarterback to Tampa!

  1. thats a cheap shot (remember bb's kid had a drug charge) as far as reid taking a shot on moss its understandable cause they still need a number 1 wr. however the iggles fans have been taking superbowl since signing assante and getting moss would of sent philly over the brink lmao! i dont think moss would like it too much after being overthrown and seeing inexplicable picks thrown by donavan " mr 2 minute offense cough " mc nabb

  1. Its funny that all of a sudden Moss is " a good kid" and the perception is totally different when the eagles probably could have got moss last year from Oakland for a third round pick..Yeah I know moss said he would only play for New England but if the eagles or anyone had stepped up and offered him a four or five year deal if he came on board, I'm sure he would have seriously considered it. ..I'm just saying its a little too late for Andy Reid to act like he knew Moss was a good guy all along...

  1. Jeff,
Eventhough family has nothing to do with any of this and I agree it was a cheap shot by Keith, a Judge called Andy Reid's Home a "Drug Emporium" which is a lot different than BB's kid getting in trouble.

  1. that was a cheap shot. A WR would play in philly- a weak conference with any team having a legit shot at the Super Bowl- were the Giants that much better than the Eagles? no, I don't think so. People get all on McNabb but what has he ever had to work with? You have TO for one year and they get to the Super Bowl. Here are the names of some of his "Primary receivers": Todd Pinkston, James Thrash, Reggie Brown, Freddie Mitchell, Greg Lewis and my personal favorite - 36 year old Antonio Freeman. He is a top 6 or 7 Qb
    1. Brady
    2. Peyton
    3. Palmer
    4. Brees
    5. Big Ben
    6. Romo
    7. McNabb
    8. Garrard
    9.

  1. At least the truth comes out ...

The Eagles never had a shot at moss !

He was staying in New England the whole time ... Moss even told him so ....

I am sorry but catching passes from Tom Brady is a sweeter deal than McNabb ....
