Kraft on NFL Films, NFL Network
Paul Domowitch of the Philadelphia Daily News writes today on some of the inner workings and struggles between NFL Films and NFL Network, with comments from Patriots chairman and CEO Robert Kraft.
The piece explores the role that NFL Films played in helping the NFL become the popular force it is today, while noting the quality programming that has been produced over the years.
But with the creation of the NFL Network four years ago, coupled with the recent layoffs of 21 NFL Films employees, the article explores how times have changed for NFL Films.
Kraft told the Daily News that the layoffs were part of a league-wide belt-tightening.
"We're in a time in America financially that's quite unique. Everyone's trying to run their business soundly," he said in the piece.
"I think what you're going to see in America in the next 6 to 9 months is, every company is going to look at redundancy. Whether it's newspapers or brokerage firms or insurance companies or retailers or professional sports leagues. We're in a period in our economy where people who want to be strong 10-15 years from now have to do that. If they don't, they won't be around."

Philly still has it out for the Pats. Did anyone notice the last line of the article on philly.com? Here it is: Said Kraft: "We haven't gotten the distribution we wanted. We got geared up hoping we would, but it didn't happen. But it will happen eventually. One way or another, we will accomplish what we need to.
"People who are football addicts will love the NFL Network." *
Watch out Philly, now that the league is finally peanalizing teams for tampering, the A$$ante Samuel signing may come back to haunt you. Where's Arlen Specter on this one?? Hawking his crappy memoirs??
Jealous, that's all I'm saying.
I guess this explains why he raised the ticket prices! A mans gotta eat!
