NFL.com: Frustration for Moss
NFL Network's Adam Schefter writes on Randy Moss, noting that "those who know Moss say he is inching closer to the point of frustration at the lack of progress he has made for a new deal with the Patriots."
The piece then explores the possiblity that Moss could wind up in Green Bay, perhaps influencing Brett Favre's decision to play one more season.

The Patriots can't blow this one . . . can they?
Wow. Lots of speculation. Schefter could do the same reasoning to find a fit for Moss on every NFL team. There's nothing there.
MOSS WOULD BE THE WORST THING THAT THE PATRIOTS COULD GET B/C HES TOO HIGHLY OVER PAID ITS GONNA MAKE THE PACKERS NOT BE ABLE TO FILL THE ACTUAL HOLES THEY NEED THEY ARE PRETTY GOOD AT WIDE OUT THEY NEED ANOTHER RB
I quit if he's leaves for Green Bay...
It's really not possible that after all that has been written, said, and done the Pats could be that far from an agreement with Moss. He's paid his dues, the Pats should be ready to do as much. Perhaps the question comes down to whether the Pat's "culture" is more important than winning. Until now, the two have been in lock step. After last year, one might ask whether they still are. The news of the last few days would indicate that hubris has taken over from vision. I hope not.
Maybe BB can show up at the presser in his new Red Hoodie and explain this debacle.
How do you not FRANCHISE Moss without a done deal?
Finally we find a huge weapon for Brady and, like that, he's gone...or going...or not signed yet...or getting frustrated. Brady must be thrilled to death.
is there any substance to that or is he purely speculating? i mean, im sure JP losman would like moss as well.. i hate the media
Kraft........step in and make sure Moss is signed.......Losing him would be tragic
This is what we get for the 37% ticket price increase. Thanks Bob. Thanks Jonathon. Thanks Bill. How about making it $50 per car while you're at it!
One man can't make a team. Ever. In fact, I've been thinking that if he goes up for those Hail Mary's in the SB maybe we get a call--see his "deer in the headlights" look in the SI pic.
I'll be bummed if Moss leaves, but all you panicky noobs should remember that the Pats won 3 Super Bowls without him, and so far none with him. In fact they won those 3 rings with a bunch of also rans for WR's. They won with rock-solid defenses, great game planning and sound ball control oriented offenses. That's what I would like to see them get back to, whether or not they re-sign Randy.
People have to realize its all about the money there is no loyalty toward teams or fans as far as players going into free agancy are concerned
I already quit!
If people are ready to quit because Moss leaves I seriously doubt their intelligence. The Pats don't need him. Brady locked in on him all year, which was great for stats in the regular season but it did nothing for them in the playoffs.
to Mr Moss, shut up and play... and too Mr Kraft, put up ot shut up... what do you need a "Video Tape" of Moss receptions last year to get you to open your wallet... or are you too busy building Patriot Place... undefeated or not it's now been years since you ponied up for some Superbowl bling... please... don't BE A CHEAP LOSER NOW
Take a look at Tom Currans article on nbcsports.com, it gives a better look at the situation. Sorry for plugging a competitors site.
Kraft stop being cheap pay the man!!!!
Straight cash Homey!!!!
Quit then......fool. Like I care. You fair weather fans have no clue on what the Salary Cap does and have no idea what it means to be a true fan. Go root for some other team who has been to the SB in 4 out of the last 7 seasons and 1/2 from 5 out of 7.....Oh yeah I forgot. There is no other TEAM that can say that. If Randy wants to go let Randy go.
if the pats really want moss this deal should have been done all ready how long can they hold this out they need to make more moves they need to go after a lest one lb and cb and safety if they cant sin moss the should go after b Jonson from Arizona
dont go moss
The Patriots can't be this stupid. Lets toy with everyone's emotions! Lets get everyone all excited about having a great offensive tandem with Brady and Moss and then yank it away from them!! Yay!
Words can't express how pissed I'll be if they screw this one up. Arrogance at its highest.
The Patriots better get the deal done otherwise you are looking at a ton of upset fans and more importantly Tom Brady.
Shame on the Patriots for jacking up ticket prices and letting half the defense go and only signing an aging Ted Bruschi. Well I love Teddy, that kind of move isn't going to jazz up the fans. Watching the Jets and Fins make move after move and the Pats sitting back and letting half the team go.
If I am Brady and I do not get a true #1 WR I am livid. You don't treat him one year and pull back the reigns.
Ed Werder just reported that Moss signed a 5year $55million contract with Dallas. The deal includes an $18million signing bonus. I'm now a Cowboy fan. Scott Pioli should be fired.
If Moss leaves Brady should ask for a trade, that would turn some heads in Foxboro.where would this franchise be without Brady.Does Polian ask Peyton to go with new recievers every year.maybe he could get an offensive line that doesn't get him hit 27 times in the super bowl and get a coach that can work better protection schemes, maybe Don Capers is the answere.last year was great, but another exodus this yearI've been a fan since 1960 so Belichick was great , but Maybe its time for a change
it doesnt make sense. our team is falling apart. hopefully we have an insane draft cuz we need it
if signing moss means handcuffing the ability of the front office to get other FA's that can fill the few holes that we have than so be it... we won 3 superbowls with brady and a host of small overrated wr's, but if they are gonna let moss go then do it and start signing stallworth, javon walker, berrian or someone who is actually decent, and get the ball rolling.
Bill, Scott, get you heads out of your @#$% and get this done! You're becoming the joke of the league.
If Moss leaves Brady will too when his contract is up. Brady said this in a super bowl press confernce, and I believe him.
If Moss leaves ... under any circumstances ... then either Belichick or Pioli's head should be served up on a platter.
Why this team had the opportunity to franchise Moss and FAILED to do so, is beyond human comprehension ... they should've slapped the damned franchise tag on him and continued negotiating.
So what if Moss would be 'offended' by the tag ... worrying about bruising his 'fragile ego' has done them a lot of good, hasn't it?? And, I've never seen an ego that couldn't be healed by a few extra million $$ ...
This situation is becoming almost criminal in stupidity and incompetence ... and if Moss goes, someone else should be fired too.
IF FAVRE SAYS THE ONLY WAY HE'LL COME BACK TO GREEN BAY IS IF WE GET MOSS...........THEN PLEASE DON'T COME BACK!!! JUST RETIRE!!! I AM SURE AARON RODGERS WILL BE PLENTY HAPPY TO THROW THE BALL TO DRIVER/JENNINGS/JONES/MARTIN/ROBINSON AND LEE. WE HAVE BEEN SPURNED BY MOSS ONCE, DON'T LET IT HAPPEN A 2ND!!!
Pats are a very bad team and care way overrrated and an embarassment
moss is the best and he should stay a pat guy.
Schefter sounds like he is trying make something out of nothing
If he's not committed to the Patriots, who needs him? He's just another rich ego... Remember, he helped blow the Super Bowl with not one, but two, misses in the last 45 seconds - when he could have been the "hero," he failed miserably - so he's not perfect. If we get him back, fine - if not, good luck to him. Please don't lose sleep if he moves on - the Patriots always seem to pull it together one way or another. No one person means success or failure for a TEAM...
I am getting sick of watching this team take weapons away from their only real star, Brady. All the years they've had probably the best qb in the league, and the only weapon they gave him prior to this season was Branch. Finally, they gave him some offensive weapons, and he responded with and amazing season. And now they want to take that away? The only receiver they've signed so far is Washington, who had zero catches last year. It's frustrating.
The dream scenario Schefter writes about will never happen because if you have followed Green Bay GM Ted Thompson's approach to FA you would know he does not get involved in signing big time FA's, especially WR's. This is a pipe dream.
Now, on the Dallas rumor here is what, someone in the organization was quoted as saying "there's no way." http://myespn.go.com/blogs/hashmarks?tag=randy%20moss It's common sense that TO would revolt if Moss was signed.
These are all rumors because all is quiet on the Moss front. Let's just wait and see what happens and everyone relax.
defense wins championships, remember that. I'll take Lance Briggs and clark haggans over moss.... moss didn't do poop over the last 6 weeks and was non-existent in the playoffs. do you really want to pay him 10 mill a year for 3 years????????
The ship may not be sunk be it will definitely start to take on water should the Pats lose this guy. The will of the fans should count for something! Sign him! And give him his damn money! This is why we pay $100+ per ticket to watch the games! As fans, we don't deserve to see Randy Moss get lost to another team.
No worries, Pats always have a winning formula! See in the superbowl!
Losing the Super Bowl is one thing! Letting 19-0 slip away is another thing! LETTING RANDY MOSS GO IS UNACCEPTABLE!
If they don't sign Moss It's OVER!
It makes sense. The Patriots are rebuilding right now, losing tons of key players to FA/They're D is decaying -and who WANTS to hang around the Patriots when Spygate fully explodes?
Green Bay for Moss right now means:
-99% ticket to the Superbowl
-Last escape from a team that might be suffering further controversy.
If NE can't re-sign Moss then they'd better try like heck to trade for Chad Johnson.
The Pats are falling apart...is this suppose to happen when you win 18 games, but lose the only one that matters? Where is Tommy to help save the day?
The Pats are going to rebuild on the fly here and shame on the Globe for their lack of insights/info on what's going on in with the team. They let Samuel go, dumped Colvin and seem to be pushing Moss away. Meanwhile, they are taking a slow approach on FAs and are looking to resign the aged Bruschi and role players like Washington and Paxton. This is after having boosted ticket prices. They are $15-18 million under the cap to boot. I can agree with their willingness not to carry bad contracts or restrict themselves in the future but the front office needs to show the fans some respect and declare their vision for the team. Tell us that Moss is not worth $48 million over 4 years, tell us that the team is looking to rebuild through the draft, tell us that the plan is to be back in the SB next year,
This is a typical BB ego trip. Brady even said; "where Moss goes I go". Shouldn't that give BB a hint that Brady wants him there. Quit being so self-centered BB and sign Moss. If not, who do we have left except Welker, he can't do it alone. He gives Brady weapons for one year then takes them away. What a idiot!!
The Pats are out-thinking themselves on this one. Brady to Moss is a no-brainer. Pay the man! He's worth it!!!
If the Patriots mess up and allow Moss to leave . . . I'm done with them.
Guys, you have a choice. Either win off the field and save some money for your owner, or pony up and win on the field.
If he leaves I also give up. And so will Brady, he has taken less here so the Partiots can sign other high level players. So if Moss leaves Brady will be really upset.
Brady would rebel. How disgusted would he be !! Obviously it was tongue in cheek, but he said "If Randy goes, I go" - so he'll be pissed if they let Randy slip.
then quit cause u weren't a real fan anyway. i one thing i have always admired about the pats is the way they stick to their model for running this team. so far its lead to 6 divisions championship, 4 AFC championships, 3 superbowls and the first team to undefeated in the regular season since the schedule went to 16 games. that being said moss should get whatever he wants but the pats aren't going to break the model for him. but i want a happy moss back and hopefully he'll be back
We actually lost a SuperBowl with Moss - and got to the Big Game 5 times without him.
Let's be realistic - it's not the end of the world if the Pats don't re-sign him. And I doubt it's anything on the Pats end that's holding things up.
The Pats need to think long and hard about this one. Moss is a difference maker, there is no doubt about it. Of course he is going to want that kind of money as well. I say pay the man, and I rarely ever say that about a player. He is a major reason the offense was so devastatingly effective last year. We got rid of Stallworth, so we need to keep Moss around.
Pay the man. You were right in letting Asante go, but if you let Moss go it is like saying you don't want to be competitive anymore.
Did everyone give up after the AFC Championship game? I mean, the Super Bowl performance made it clear that the coaches did, that many of the players went through the motions. But now Pioli is just crusing? We lose Colvin, who appeared effective, kept Bruschi (who is clearly slow), waved at Kyle Brady going out the door, and lost our corners. And now we're going to lose Moss. Let's just trade the Calvin Klein kid to the Jets and be done with it. Jeezz...
They don't pay ANYONE more than they think they are worth. This is nothing new.
Ty Law
Asante Samuel
Damien Woody
Willie McGinnest
Deion Branch
and the list goes on and on and on and on and on and on....
Why are we so bent on keeping Moss? We had the most prolific offense in the NFL last season and we couldn't score more than 14 pts in the Superbowl. By the way, where was Moss the 2nd half of the season? He was a supposed decoy, but even when he wasn't double teamed he still wasn't making any plays. We won 3 Superbowls because of our defense and special teams. We need to use the money that we would have to spend to keep Moss on defensive players. Offense wins games...defense wins Superbowls.
moss had a 1 year phenom he won't repeat. he's going to cost a lot. brady uncharacteristically forced the ball to him late in the season to get him personal stats/goals which again is uncharacteristic of the patriots. we won 3 super bowls without him. He's very good but he sucked in the playoffs and he did not excel in the super bowl. If he doesn't want to play for the team let him walk.
Why did they not franchise the guy. Could the mighty Partiots be bowing to a glorified superstar which means they were intimidated by Moss and his agent had they franchised him? Could be squeezed under the Colts cap? Then I would be upset. Otherwise, my faith in coach Bill and Brandy remains. If Moss departs N.E., it only means that he never changed as a person.
Who's in charge of making these decisions? Are they squabbling over nickels and dimes? Moss and Brady can win 5 superbowls together. Is the pen out of ink?If they dont sign Moss, Im a Jets fan! Alright...no im not but ill be pissed!
The news I get is that withthe silence out of Indy, like Adam V Moss will be taming with Manning next season. Its all over for Pats nation
Anyone considering how this will affect The Franchise (Tom Brady) if the "brain trust" allows Moss to leave, ala Deion Branch? Who wants to "return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear" when Reche Caldwell was out leading receiver? Moss had a record-breaking season and there's no one the Pats can get to replace that. If he leaves, it's just another gaping hole to fill on a team that was one play from winning the Super Bowl. If the lose Randy after losing Asante Samuel, they might have to scratch just to make the playoffs considering the ill will it could create between Belichick and Tom Brady, who might just leave when his contract expires because the Patriots don't want to pay to keep their best players.
W
He disapeared in the playoffs. We do not need players like that and is probably why the Pat's aren't going to over pay him!!!! He is not the WINNER we need.
Why are the Pats prolonging this situation. It is just a matter of time, when he says I had enough I will go elsewhere, to a place I am wanted, just like Asanta said with his " no comment "
The more I think about this story, the more I think it reeks of "leaked by agent". I believe that Moss truly does want to play for a playoff team, and green bay certainly is that, but only as long favre is there, and there's no guarantee how long that'll be. gb is a good fit for possibly only one year.
At this point i'm confused; 1)Randy took a pay cut to come N.E2) Why would Kraft invest millions on a new huge patriots place theme park thing, based upon the Patriots Franchise, only to have it fall through his fingers into nothing ? 3) So far we have only worked at letting people go, and not much has been done to get players; Why would Bruschi come back if he knew that things would fall apart4) It just seems that their not spending any money to get anyone.5) What say, if any, does Tom Brady have? Can he, would he go somewhere else if Randy leaves?
Moss would be a great fit with McNabb and the Eagles.
at some point the Pats have to go through a transition for the older defensive and offensive players, they didn't lose the SB because of a WR, they lost because of slow OT/OL and LB's, they bought in to a big time receieving corps and it didnt work, KW, WW and CJ should be able ot get the job done.
SOMETIMES PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE WHAT THEY HAVE UNTIL ITS GONE.THE PATS EXECUTIVES THINK THEY HAVE TO PROVE THE WORLD WRONG EVERY YEAR.IF THEY LET MOSS WALK I WILL BE CONVINCE D THAT BILL SHOULD GET A CHECKUP ALONG WITH SCOTT FROM THE SHOULDERS UP.
Gimme a break! Sign him now!
The Pats shouldn´t break the bank to sign Moss. Let´s just go after Berrien or Walker instead.
Ouch. If Randy is frustrated imagine how TB is feeling. He finally gets a real WR and Bill may blow it as he continues his winter of misery.
Moss Please go to green bay. You are the missing piece that would cement the packers run to WINNING a superbowl. I'm sure you and Brett would be like kid's in the lot. A winning combo!
M
Based on the results of the past six years, I'm comfortable with leaving personnel decisions to management rather than the fans and media.
Losing Moss would be tough...but not the end of the world. We were good before he got here...just as long as they get SOMEONE to be the #1 WR. But man was it fun watching him and Brady, hope to see it again.
Maybe trade for Chad J. ...not alot of other #1 options out there beyond him and Moss. I would sign Bryant Johnson irregardless of the Moss situation - as your new #2...if Moss leaves, BJ becomes the #1 guy, then go hard after Berrian AND Crumpler.
Defense still wins (Pats fans - we should know that). If they lose Moss AND dont use that $$ to get Briggs (or someone!) then I'll be mad.
But I have faith that they won't let us down.
PLEASE - PLEASE-- PLEASE stop these insane and ridiculous comments! Silence is a good thing! Don't get ahead of yourselves. The Pats know exactly what they are doing, and as always have a plan in place. Moss will be back!!!! Other key moves will also be set in place.
Remember, we are only a day into free agency. Let the other teams rush ahead and pay enormous money. When the Pats win the next SB, Samuel will regret ever leaving. He is nothing but a greedy gold digger, and not fit to be a PAT. KEEP THE FAITH!!!!!
People its all about money now, the stadium is full and will be for years, and Krafty will put a sub par team out there and make twice the money....Ps I'm a season ticket holder for 15 years so I'm not fair weather......The man is all about money!!!!! He just raised my ticket $28 a seat try that times 4 seats thats $112 more a game for me, on top figure parking going up to $50 a pop, and ask with the new mall why he can't step up, its cause he's cheap, he constantly compares himself to the average fan, MR KRAFT step up and stop living on past glory!!!!
"Brady locked in on him all year, which was great for stats in the regular season but it did nothing for them in the playoffs."
..ummmm except complete a drive that should have won the super bowl. Dumbass.
the dynasty ended in phoenix and moss will be gone, next year is a rebuilding year, the pats put up a ton of money last year to try to buy the super bowl and came up short,, kraft is not going to do the same thing this year,, lots of changes and an 8-8 season coming as they rebuild
pats should have 5 superbowls not three,, time to retool the team
HEY, BOB KRAFT.....ARE YOU LISTENING.....GET INVOLVED....SIGN MOSS.....WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING FOR ?????
LET HIM GO THEN BRING DOWN THE TICKET PRICES SO SOMEONE OTHER THAN BIG BUSINESS PEOPLE CAN AFFORD TO. HALF THE PEOPLE WITH SEASON TICKETS HAVE A SECOND MORGAGE OUT ON THEIR HOMES JUST TO PAY FOR IT.AND WHILE YOUR AT IT SLASH THE PRICES ON THE PRE-SEASON GAMES AT LEAST IN HALF.(MONEY REALLY DOESNT GROW ON TREES YOU KNOW)
I'm a big fan of Randy Moss, Patriot nation should revolt should Randy Moss not wear a Patriot uniform. He is the best receiver in the NFL and we would be taking a step backwards to a medioce receiving corps. Pay the bucks, Moss stays!!!!!!
It would be tough to lose Moss, especially after losing Stallworth and likely Gaffney. If they overpay, they won't be able to revamp the D after losing Asante, Wilson, and Colvin.
Resign Moss, sign Lance Briggs, draft a shutdown corner and mix and match here and there and we will be right back in the Super Bowl; this time to win the damn thing!!!
they lose moss because they are too cheap I am not renewing my season tickets at a 30% increase! If the pats ever stink Kraft will be siting at the mall with a 1/2 filled stadium because he is too cheap to pay his players!
I see a repeat of 2006 on the horizon. Kraft's philosophy has 4 simple steps:
1 -To get a bargain when he can
2 - Don't break the bank because he needs (sorry wants) the money for his shopping wonderland
3 - Charge the fans as much as as he can get away
4 - Let Tom carry you as far as he can.
This pattern has been very clear the past three years.
Don't try to sugar coat it, its reality. Its now about the empire not about football for Bob Kraft.
This Coaching and Owner ship of the Patriots must be on Drugs They need to resign Moss Isn't it bad enough They got rid of Stallworth which is w/ the Browns now and Samuel is w/ Eagles ARE THE Trying to DESTROY the Patriots team all together Maybe It's time to get a hole new Coaching staff Cause they can't seem to keep players That we NEED so stop being Idiots and re-hire these players If Kraft can build a Billion dollar company Pats place they certainly can afford These players and resign Gaffney STOP BEING IDIOTS and killing the team There is no way w/ out these players This team will ever win all the games they did this past season so GROW UP
Wow. Trust the men who run the franchise people! We had Moss for a year under our terms. Wasn't that sweet? Next year is a whole new year and laundry ALWAYS changes. So what? I'm thinking that I'd rather find some LB and CB & S help in the 2ndary via the free agent market if the price is right. If they can't come to terms with Moss at a number that makes sense for all involved, so be it. Does anyone think the $18m signing bonus the Browns just gave Stallworth is something that the Pats should have matched? ...other than that, I'm not listening to innuendo and rumours and whining about something that hasn't happened yet. It is just wasted energy. Go Pats!
Pats BETTER sign MOSS _
Krafty and co. out to be ashamed of themselves if they don't.
R. Moss is a SPECIAL Player. Did the Pats front office watch him play last year?...I guess not.
Can someone call Tom Brady ? ask him to please contact the Pats front office and tell them to get their s***t together and just sign MOSS.!
IF they don't - Patriot Nation - will NOT be Happy at ALL.
Need to sign Moss and Gafney...with Welker, that is all we need.
last time i checked we won 3 superbowls without Moss.
if moss doesn't come back will brady ask for a trade? if they get rid of another reciever brady likes i don't see him being happy at all. pay moss he deserves it and has proven to all of us after a season like this. Bill and kraft for ronce spend a ton of money. us fans are getting sick of you not singing moss and most people won't forgive you especially brady.
Me too...if the Pats let him go I think I've had it. Brady will be next.
Randy, come to Green Bay. We will give you the farm.
Bradshaw......Swan
Montana..........Rice
Staubach.............Pearson
Aikmen...............Irvin
Brady.....................????????????
In bill i trust
If the Pats don't sign Moss it will indicate that the franchise is looking at going into reverse for the next several seasons. I believe the Pats put ALL the components together (i.e. SPENT the money) to win this past season. They blew it, badly.
They lost Stallworth (more unfortunate than many think) and, if they lose Moss, it's almost a certainty that Brady won't resign with the Pats in two years...We can see the potential for this franchise to crumble into obscurity once again...
randy moss = babe ruth
This team will NEVER recover from the Super Bowl. The most devastating loss in team sports history. It hurts to watch the water circle the drain but the run is over! Thanks Matt-a-door Light. O'le~!
Wouldn't it be great if Randy Moss landed in Indy?? Peyton Manning might throw 60 TD passes next year!
Brady........Patten, Brown, Branch, Gievns, Caldwell, Moss, Welker....... to be contined (5 different leading receivers in 7 years)
Bledsoe......Coates, Brisby, Timpson, Jefferson, Glenn, Brown
History repeating itself .. HC Belichick IS arrogant .. and partly paid on profit sharing .. and truthfully as a fan I saw in the Super Bowl that the offensive line lost and the Coaching Staff lost that game.
What are you thinking by not signing Moss?
Only so much $$$ to go around. The difference this year in my opinion with Moss was 16-0 to 13-3 if he wasn't in NE. He was double teamed alot in the playoffs but basically a nonfactor. Jerry Rice was, I'm sure in his day, double covered in the playoffs but he always got his share of receptions. Would the patriots be that far behind with Welker, Jackson, Washington and (hopefully) Gaffney? Remember that they almost went to the SB 2006 except they blew it at the end (much like this SB). Spend the big money (little they have) on FA DB's and LB's
History repeating itself .. HC Belichick IS arrogant .. and partly paid on profit sharing .. and truthfully as a fan I saw in the Super Bowl that the offensive line lost and the Coaching Staff lost that game.
First, you can't seal the deal at SB XLII, and now you may lose Moss? Ha ha ha ha ha ha.
17-0, still the standard for PERFECTION.
oh yeah the packers going undeafeated eat it up patriots fans jajajjaja
The Pat's should keep him because we (Green Bay) sure as HELL DON'T WANT HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go Pats, You don't find too many Randy Moss's, quick, hands, and he takes a hit and holds on to the ball.
The worm has turned for the Pats. My assessment is that the dynasty peaked,
peaked in the first half of '07. The fall from the peak is turning out to be steep and spectacular. My advice: Focus on another sport, because the glory years are over and the sun is going down.
I con't agree more with Patriot fans we have get Moss signed,
If we are going to get to Super bowl XLIII In Tampa!!!
Even thought ‘defense wins’, I always thought that they would sign Moss over Asante. Mostly because I thought Moss would be inclined to take less $$$ to stay in NE, to try (again) to win a ring. Moss did all the right things – restructured, was a model citizen and helped the team break records. One would have thought that the two sides would have already had a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ at the beginning of last season – if you play nice, we’ll resign you for X dollars. However, if the rumors are true that Moss is becoming frustrated, I’m concerned that he will now look to another contender that is willing to pay market value. This would be a big loss for NE unless they somehow become the best defensive team in the league.
I think he ends up with Eagles and D-McNabb....Favre is on his way out..and getting way up there.
Moss wants to get paid..flat out...he wants 4 years minimum and a huge signing bonus....
He talked with McNabb on the phone today about coming to the Eagles....
I cant believe all these idiotic people who say they are giving up if Randy Moss leaves. Bottom line is that Moss was a total bust in the playoffs, one catch against Jacksonville, one catch against the Chargers and did nothing for most of the game against the Giants. Wes Welker is the reciever who always comes up big in key situations not Moss. The Patriots won three Super Bowls without him and with a great nucleus returning will win more without him. I loved the attitude of Kelly Washington last year as he didn't
complain about not being a regfular player and was terrific on special teams and watch Washingtom blossom into a great reciever next season!!
We are the franchise that players want to play for; we are the franchise that will contend year after year for the title. It is an absolute privledge to be a New England Patriot; players that don't see this are blind. Believe me; whoever puts on a Patriot uniform is special! The Patriots will win their 4th Superbowl in franchise history next year; be patient people and trust the people who have blessed us with three world titles already...
I am Boston born and bred and am a Patriots fan forever, but I am now living in Wisconsin. (Don't ask. *lol*) Please, please, please don't let Randy Moss go to the Packers. The top news story every night out here (so it seems) for the past five years has been about Brett Favre possibly retiring. GO AWAY BRETT. I do not want him to have a chance of winning another SuperBowl, especially at the expense of New England fans. I want 3 more New England Superbowl wins....one against the Bears; one against the Packers; and one against the Giants. Go Pats.
Don't shoot the messenger, BUT, is Randy really worth the $? he had an awsome first half, a good second half and a mediocre playoff. Did he make the clutch catches in the loss to the Giants? No. Is he tough enough? Just keep that in mind.
How is it the Patriots would even think this over? 25 TD receptions and who also attracts attention to allow Welker free to roam and you have to think about it? Amazing.
Randy, the Minnesota Vikings are on the verge of putting together a great team. Please consider coming back.
The Pats are acting as if there is another WR out there at Mosses level. (Hello, but not even Javon Walker) can replace Moss. This thin-veiled belief just isn't the case. Moss is the premiere WR in the league and he has proven he can play with Brady. This is all that matters, period.
Anything less than a three-year deal is a hose job to the thousands of Patriots fans. Sorry, but that's true. The premiere WRs in the league (Walker, Owens, Smith) all require quality second-level WRs on the other side of the field. Moss is a true miracle man. A quality 2nd WR like, like Gaffney, if allowed to play his position would take this team back to glory.
Do not mess with this Pats Management. Sign this guy - and sign him soon. Do not screw around.
You only hope he leaves and goes to Green Bay so we can watch Farve another year. Watching the Pats yank around a guy who helped them go 18-1 is pretty funny.
I don't understand the comments regarding the Kraft's not spending money? They spend to the maximum allowed under the salary cap, set by the league. The problem is, there is only so much they can spend, and you can't spend it all on one, or a few players.....just look at the Redskins! If 50% of the cap is spent on 2 players...you have some pretty average or less players in all other positions.
Don't get me wrong, I want Moss here....but I also recognize that we can't overpay....that's the secret to how the Pats have been so good for so long in this age of the salary cap! My advice, give this some time..and whatever happens, happens...all players must give up some salary to play on a competitive team, year in and year out...if you want to have ups and downs...go and over pay...let's give our team the benefit of the doubt.....they have more information than we do, and more than the media....
