Pack missed first pass at Moss
If the Green Bay Packers were to take a run at Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss, as has been speculated, they might have to mend some fences first.
At the Super Bowl in February, Moss sounded less than thrilled with the team's approach to courting him last year, when he was seeking a trade from the Oakland Raiders.
Moss clearly has affection for Packers legend Brett Favre, but he didn't seem to like much else about the Packers, judging from his comments on Jan. 30.
"I think Brett Favre wanted to talk to me. I think I was tied up and unable to talk to him. Green Bay was in the picture, but things were told to me about maneuvering money around and making it a good fit," said Moss, when asked about the Pack's pursuit of him last off-season.
"The Packers were really talking about the wrong things, and not the right things. When they started talking more about the wrong things, I just hung up the phone and didn’t want to talk to them anymore. I thought at first it was something that could have worked, for the fact that Brett Favre was there, but I think as the conversations occurred throughout the day and the next day, I didn’t really want to go to Green Bay.”
Moss was pressed on what exactly those wrong things were and went into detail.
“They were just talking about their team concept and the wide receivers and Donald Driver," he said. "It was like they were telling me that they were going to somewhat take a chance on me but, ‘if you do come here, these are the things you have to watch out, and be on your best behavior, and Donald Driver is the top receiver here, so don’t come in and try to step on his toes,’ and things like that.
"I didn’t think that was right because my whole career I have been taken out of context sometimes, but at the end of the day all I wanted to do was win games. ...I didn’t really feel they wanted me. I felt that Brett Favre wanted me, but I didn’t really feel the Packers wanted me.”
Maybe, both the feelings of Moss and the Packers have changed.

Why this team had the opportunity to franchise Moss and FAILED to do so, is beyond human comprehension ... they should've slapped the damned franchise tag on him and continued negotiating.
So what if Moss would be 'offended' by the tag ... worrying about bruising his 'fragile ego' has done them a lot of good, hasn't it?? And, I've never seen an ego that couldn't be healed by a few extra million $$ ...
This situation is becoming almost criminal in its stupidity and incompetence ... and if Moss goes, someone else should be fired too.
I wonder how Tom Brady feels about New England management now. Every year its doing things on cheap with the Pats. I guess the Pats are satisfied with a fan base that has been reeled in so they are now raising ticket prices by 40%.
So will Welker have to catch two hundred passes next season?
Who says Tom Brady wants huge offensive weapons when they aren't necessarily going to win him a Super Bowl. I think he'd rather have players who catch 50 balls and 5 touchdowns and who he win's a super bowl with then have one that breaks records but doesn't win a super bowl with.
For the love of god please sign randy moss to a multi-year deal! Not only do pats fans love him, but i need him for madden 09!
The way this situation has turned out is impossible to comprehend and even more of a slap in the face to Brady than anyone else in this situation. At this rate how much of an influence will Welker be playing the slot receiver with a receiving corp. consisting of C.Jackson and K.Washington as the only three receivers that the Pats have signed to contracts? I know I am absolutely lost in the dark with the direction this '08 team is heading right now.
why are the patriots even screwing around with this situation? brady and moss are poised to become a legendary duo. who knows what the future could hold with them playing together. last season is just the tip of the iceberg! please, please, please sign him!
someone else suggested that maybe one of the conditions for Moss' restructuring last year was that the Pats could not franchise him this year. that would have been smart forward thinking by the Moss team. otherwise, I'm also stunned that they did not franchise him. at least they would have more leverage and could have traded for a pick if someone was willing to pay him "stupid" money
I think it would be mastke taking Randy Moss because he to much of a ball hog.I think with Driver and jenning and jones on there u have one of the offense wr in the leg.If u guy bring Moss in the line up it might cause a problkem with them guys.He like to cry to much if he dont get the ball all the time.Thats why the Vicking got dumped him.So the best thing u could do just let him sit there.
At this point the Pats will have to sign Garnett to be WR...
All I have to say is, as a Packers fan, I could care less about getting Moss. Yeah, he's a good receiver, but he's one player, and a headcase at that. I don't know why we would waster our time trying to get Moss when our receiving corps. is just fine. He didn't do much in the Super Bowl because the Patrtiots couldn't protect their quarterback. The Packers have far more pressing needs.
Asante, Roosevelt, and now Dante Stallworth all gone?!! The team that could not finish the perfect season is jumping ship.Randy Moss will be gone by tomorrow morning. This team had one shot at greatness and the did not bother to show up for the last game against the lowly New York Giants. After that Super Bowl embarrasement ship them all off to Cleveland for all I care. Thank God for the Red Sox.
I think Randy Moss is an outstanding athlete and he proved that once again this past year. I also think it is the media that creates the lion's share of the hype around him. As a New England Patriot fan, every interview of Moss I ever watched, including the ones about the alleged incident during the two week layoff before the SB, are overblown. He has handled himself well. He is looking for a respectful relationship, and he is right. The Patriots gave that to him. Now as far as salaries are concerned they are hard bargainers.
This proves what I always thought. Randy Moss is a total punk. He plays below his ability every time his feelings are hurt. He's T.O. except with a mean streak and less desire to win.
Other than TE, the Packers need to stick with the offense that they have. They are still young 9Favre is always younf at heart) and another year of maturity will do nothing but wonders for them. They need to concentrate on other things such as a rookie tight end and more defensive line help. Driver, Jennings, and Jones are set for WR. You guys can keep Moss or he could go someplace else as long as it is not in Green Bay.
Why Did Patriots Managerment Waste Time For NOT Randy Re-Sign ?
Listen Patriots BB And Scott P.,
I Believe He Is The Worth $
Why Did He The Right Thing To An Expensive Offer ? Becuz He Did So Good Huge Catch/Receiver. He Did Working Hard. That's Why He Is So Strict Proffessional. No Joke.
Hey Patriots Managerment, Stop Ur Mind To Play Game For Low Money. Becuz He Did No St_p_d, U Know That.
U Knew That, All Our Pats Fans Love Randy Moss Very Much With Our Hearts. Please No Anger To Him - Listen Yr Heart For Him A Worth / $ Our Future.
Hey Patriots Managerment/Randy Moss:
Please Don't Anger Peronsally Each Other. When U Are Anger It Won't Gonna To Help This. U Know That.
Please U Have To Keep A Fight Business Disscusion To Be Continue With Randy Moss. No Give It Up. No Anger Personally. It Is About Fight Business.
Then, Stay Tuned.
Randy Moss is a first class MORON!!!! Anyone who would wipe his butt on a goal post, especially at Lambeau Field does not deserve to play in the NFL. This boy is a nut case that belongs in a home for the mentally challenged.
The Green Bay Packers are a first class organization as are the fans and players, we do not need headcases that interfer with our ultimate goal of getting to and winning the Superbowl.
Moss belongs in the the lap of Jerry Jones and the Dallas
(convicts) er, Cowboys, a place he would fit right in, where he could pout, cry and call home.
Patriots are making a huge mistake by not signing Moss.
He wants to stay here, but expects to be compensated fairly - and rightfully so.
The ramifications of not signing him, will be far more reaching than just his departure.
Tom Brady has repeatedly accepted less than his fair worth, in exchange for the supposed benefit it brings the entire Patriot Organization to win.
The Brady/Moss tag-team had only one year under thier belt & was outstanding. The more time together, the better they will become.
If Moss parts ways, it defeats everything Brady has bought into. There's no reason for him to continue doing as he has & as such, he may even seek to be traded himself.
I wouldn't blame him.
The Superbowl was NE's to win, but the defence wasn't able to hold thier own on the Giants last drive. (as lucky as they were with the near sack/Tyre catch, not-withstanding)
Disrupting the Offence even more than has already been done, would be a disgrace to Brady & the entire New England following!
P. S. - just wondering if cameron girl has a GED yet?
she hasn't written a single post yet that I've been able to understand???
I hate Moss' personality, but he is a great player you cannot deny that. If the Packers got him i would be happy they got a good player. I think it would be smart for the Packers to get him, more depth at the receiver position. Furthermore, Grant would be even more of a run threat. Another player the Packers should try to get off the free agent market is Michael "the burner" Turner. He has been the back-up for LT all these years and hasn't gotten to show the great player he is. If the Pack got Turner they would have the best 1-2 punch in the league.
Sign him for what he's worth. The New England fans have embraced him . Tom Brady and Moss are the new Montana and Rice. Tony Dungy likes Moss I think he'd like to get him in Indianapolis just to beat New England. I have never seen so much excitement around the New England team until this year even the Super Bowl Years didn't get this kind of buzz. People love a person that came from humble beginnings and became the greatest wide receiver in the NFL. There's a aura around Randy that makes people flock to him . Whatever team he goes to is my team. I am with Randy Moss.
words is moss and the eagles have a deal almost done...
No Moss. Randy Moss is a good, not great, receiver of which the Pack already has four - they need no more. They do need a tight end however and a third cornerback.
Note Moss never stays with any team - there is a message there.
I dont know why moss signed with New England their gona suck next year w/o
stallworth
samuel
colven
gay
by the way Tom brady is only good because he has moss and a good o-line any quarterback can be that good when they have moss and a good 0-line.
PATS=CHEATER+CHOKERS
THEY WIN EVERY GAME BUT THE SUPERBOWL I THINK THATS FUNNY AS HELL.
