Rams lawsuit dismissed
Lawyers for a St. Louis Rams player and three fans plan to withdraw a lawsuit accusing the Patriots of cheating in Super Bowl XXXVI, the Associated Press reports.
The news was to be expected, as experts felt the suit had little merit to begin with.
Mike Reiss and Christopher L. Gasper provide regular updates -- and a
behind the scenes look -- on the daily happenings of the Patriots.

The most likely explanation is that they had to dismiss the case or they would have risked the imposition of Rule 11 sanctions for filing a frivolous lawsuit. This lawsuit appears to have been filed for the sole purpose of making headlines and the media didn't disappoint in helping the plaintiffs out. When it came time to begin presenting their case, the plaintiffs had to have known that they had no claims of any merit. This lawsuit was a complete waste of the court's time and there was a real possibility that the judge would have ordered the plaintiffs to pay the Patriots' legal fees as a result of the violation of a court procedural rule called Rule 11. Rule 11 allows the court to impose sanctions on parties and their attorneys who file papers with the court that are not warranted in fact and which are filed for an improper purpose. Did these plaintiffs know that their game was up? It sure looks like that way.
Good point GH...since they withdrew it you have to wonder if they heard that zipperhead has nothing that will help them...curious timing...
