What is up with all these signing of seriously injured DB???
Can somebody explain to me??

Does seem like a lot are hurt. What about Takeo SPikes - just released by the Fleagles! Would he be a goof fit! Of course he was another guy hurt at the end of last year!

Hope he plays more like Deon Sanders than Colonel Sanders!

As I see it the Pats, need to bring in some DB with some experience just in case their young DB's don't step up as they are expedting. They have some pretty good DB's who have only gotten rep's in practice and a couply of Pre Season games. But they have potential to be very good. Antwain Spann have been waiting for his opportunity and he will get it this year, He has the same type of ability as Asanta has and is a play maker. Brandon Meriwether will improve this season with more time to learn the system. So I think the Pats have a plan to not spend alot of money on long term Free Agents DB's, because they may have what they need already.

Sanders has had some injuries in the past which have slowed his development. He is a nickel/dime CB and ST's player, nothing more. He does have good size going for him and he is a good athlete. He is football savy and can quickly diagnose plays. His physicality with the bump and run is probably his best skill. He seems a little stiff and kind of looks like a S playing corner sometimes but has good enough speed for deep coverage once he gets going and he can make plays on the ball. The Pats are building depth and creating competition for spots in the defensive backfield, I can assure you they are not done signing veteran defensive backs in FA and will draft 2-3 players there as well.

Takeo Spikes? What has he done for or with the last three teams he was with? We need that mythical LB who can both tackle and cover the middle.

Watched a MN game last season....Williams was horrible....should change his name to Toast (as in burnt) Williams....perhaps the Pats system will be a better fit?

Looks like they are just taking some chances on players for cheap money, hoping that they are undervalued because of injury. Mike Vrabel ring a bell?

How dare the Patriots, they should be be either trading for DeAngelo Hall, Ed Reed, Brain Dawkins and Donte Whitner, or they should be doing nothing at all.

By the way releasing a player doesn't equate to a bad football player. Money is also a determinating factor. aka Lawyer Milloy!

Have faith, in Bill we trust.... right. I think Spikes would fit nicely in the middle of the Pats defense, sure would get younger than they are now, probably a little quicker too.

I never doubt Belichick and the Patriots sytem but signing all these injured plague guys that haven't done anythign for other teams just seems crazy to me. But I never coached a team to 3 - SB wins either.

Hopefully Kansas City releases Law and he agrees to come back for a lowe pay. Yeah right, and i'll win megabucks to.

I have a feeling if we can sign Adam Seward he can be like another Vrabel; a poor man's ILB man's Mike Vrabel. Probably for a 3 year, 5 mill contract. Better long-term than Takeo, who did suck it up recently

The Pats need to keep the #7 pick and draft a cornerback---Leodis McKelvin, Mike Jenkins, or Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.
Look at the dbs who have left---Law, Milloy, and Samuel---and look who is left at cornerback.
Don't forget the Pats drafted Richard Seymour at #6 and he helped to make the D-line better.
Forget about these free agent dbs. Duane Starks anybody?

I don't think Duane Starks was physical enough against most of the receivers while he played here that and injury, is why he was released.

Bring back Ty Law for veteran play and support and go Hobbs go...

I agree that we need to keep the #7 pick, but a CB that high in this year's draft is not worth it. If we are picking that high, we should go all out and pick the best player (DE/LB) available and if Gholston is still on the board, it's a no brainer. Gholston is versatile and can be made into an edge pass rusher (OLB), so Thomas/Bruschi play inside and Vrabel on the other edge. Seward brought in for depth to sub-in for Bruschi would be GOLDEN! Hope all this plays out that way, lol!
