ESPN puts Pats on clock

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff April 12, 2008 08:11 AM

ESPN examines the state of each NFL team in its "On the Clock" series, and the Patriots' segment is now posted on ESPN.com.

Mike Tirico, Merrill Hoge, Chris Mortensen and Mel Kiper Jr. discuss the club, with Hoge noting his concern with the team's linebacker group, and Kiper Jr., pointing out that cornerback and linebacker are top needs.

Defense ruled the discussion.

  1. Surprised no one mentioned the possibility of them trading down...

But I agree with Kiper. Gholston is really the only player I would take at #7. Even if a miracle happened & the best player in the draft, Darren McFadden, fell to us, I still feel they would trade the pick.

  1. Chris Mortensen was an idiot. Anybody else here him say that he doesn't think the Patriots would win the division without Randy Moss. Get real!

  1. Hoge is a chump. His distaste for the Pats, even prior to the so-called "Spygate" affair, was almost palpable over the course of his game analyzations.

  1. I'm willing to bet that the Pats trade down and target Harvey or Albert in that order. Harvey at 13 would be better value than Gholston at 7. Based on his college experience, you get a more complete player in Harvey. This guy isn't just a pass rusher, you can't run to his side.

  1. Well that is a couple of minutes of my life that I can't get back. Suddenly the Pats are a horrible team without Randy Moss? Couldn't win their division?

Please, ESPN continues to be populated with dreamers who see a different NFL than reality dictates. It is the FOX news of the NFL
