Free-agent Darrion Scott visits
The Patriots hosted free-agent DE Darrion Scott at Gillette Stadium today.
The 6-foot-3, 289-pound Scott entered the NFL as a third-round draft choice of the Minnesota Vikings in 2004. He has played in 48 career games, with 28 starts. His most productive seasons, stats-wise, came in 2005 and 2006 when he totaled 104 tackles and 9.5 sacks.
The Ohio State alum, who is 26, played in just four games last season due to a fractured foot. He later drew attention with some negative off-the-field headlines.

Scott is a pretty versatile guy and was a key reserve prior to last yr for the Vikings. Scott was a regular in the Vikings' rotation keeping the DL fresh and when injuries hit he started at DE. He is solid vs the run and if you remember back that yr the Vikings were #1 in the league vs the run. Scott was instrumental in making that happen with his ability to hold the point and also squeeze the edge which in turn collapses running lanes if you can keep contain, which he does well. Scott is not only powerful but also displays proper leverage. His limitations are in generating a pass rush. He is strictly a power player and lacks finesse and doesn't have a quick first step to help him gain the advantage on OT's to get to the QB. So he has value as a two down DE and then can be moved inside to bull rush and collapse the pocket on 3rd down. Obviously with the Pats he will not be a regular but can start in a pinch if needed and someone this solid vs the run definitely has value. Reminds me a lot of Bobby Hamilton, who enjoyed nice success here early in BB's tenure. Would be a solid signing if the money is right.
Mike, St. PetersburgTimes (FL) reports Bucs are looking at KC's Jared Allen. He had 15 1/2 sacks last year. Bucs and Minnesota offering high draft picks. Any possibiity Pat's would consider their #7 straight up? This guy looks to be real stud.
Oh no! He had MARIJUANA in his possession! AHHHHHH!!!!!!
Give me a break. This would be a nice signing if the $$$ is right.
