"On the last part of the question, it is pretty much unheard of to trade a top pick only a few weeks after the draft."
That's because when you trade a player, you're immediately resposible for all the unpaid signing bonus.
So, I sign my 1st round pick to a 5 year, $20 million contract, with a $10 million signing bonus, normally it would cost against the salary cap $2.0 million per year (for the bonus). However, if I turn around and cut or trade that player, I'd have to pay any remaining signing bonus (in this case, the entire $10.0 million, would would all be applied to that year's cap).
Long story short - if you cut/trade a player, pray he doesn't have much of a signing bonus remaining!
According to the revised draft chart that is cirdulating on the net the the Pats seventh pick in the first round is equal to theCardinals 1st (16th), second (50th), and fifth (149) round picks.
Would the Pats trade for the Cardinals 1st and 2nd picks?
