Mayo turns into reporter
A light moment on a conference call with Tennessee Jerod Mayo today.
Speaking with New England reporters, he stopped answering questions and turned from player to reporter.
"What kind of headlines am I going to get with my last name up there?" he asked. "I've read a lot of them, but what can I expect?"
There was laughter from the reporters assembled.
Asked the best headline he's seen, Mayo said "Hold the Mayo" was No. 1.
"But that's kind of getting played out now, so I'm trying to see what you guys are going to throw at me," he said.
There was silence, and Mayo drew laughter by calling out the reporters for not having an answer.

Does this mean we should expect the Patriots to play more 4-3 This kid projects to play the weak side inside in the 3-4...I can't believe that Bill Belichick would pick an LBer who hasn't played DL...
Makes a lot of sense actually - perfect to split time with Bruschi this year and fill in thereafter. The most interesting thing is where AD will play. I think the run game could be sufficating to offenses with him inside but that position did not come over night. I think your starting LBs by the middle of next year will be AD & Vrabel on the outside with Hobson and Mayo at the weak. I would feel much more comfortable with depth on the outside though.
Extra Mayo and a Cold Bruschi!
I always thought that Mayo was the best LB in the draft and the scouts almost agreed with me. The kid from USC who was drafted right before him is good but Mayo has proved himself for several years now and is as fast as a strong safety. He weighs 245 and runs like a deer and can hit like a freight train. I honestly think that Mayo will be starting by the first game of the year.
I'm a huge Tennessee fan. I'm telling you this kid lays wood like Bobby Bouche.
Think of a faster Al Wilson=Jerod Mayo
