More on Matt Slater

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff April 27, 2008 02:40 PM

For more on the selection of UCLA two-way player Matt Slater in the fifth round, here is a piece from the Press Enterprise that states he had emerged as a force on special teams.

"I've finally found my niche," Slater said in the piece. "In my mind, special teams is about relentless effort. I thought about all the hard times I've been through here, and said, 'Now I have a chance, let me make the most of it.'

"These last few years, I felt like I've had an opportunity to leave my mark on the program, and that's in the form of being a great special teams player. But I'll take it how I can get it."

CORRECTION ON TRADE: There was an error in the announcement of the Patriots' trade with Tampa Bay. The Patriots sent their 2008 fifth-round pick (160) and 2008 seventh-round pick (238) to Tampa Bay for the Buccaneers' fifth-round pick (153). That leaves the Patriots with just their sixth-round pick (197).
