O'Connell the pick

The Patriots have selected QB Kevin O'Connell with the 94th overall selection, in the third round.

  1. WOW. This guy would have been around in the 5th round, AT LEAST. I don't know what they were thinking here. Could have grabbed Tashard Choice (Faulk's eventual replacement), tackle Carl Nicks, or another CB like Justin King. This one is a head scratcher. Are they trying to send a message to Brady? Not very effective message if so.

    With 3 picks in the 3rd round they should have filled in some holes.

    I expected more in the third round.

    Trading the pick for San Diego's 2009 only is going to gain approximately 10 spots. Who cares. Rather have the contributer this year with a yuear under his belt.

  1. Everyone relax....Cassell will be gone next year and could be traded for future picks, O'Connell will be a better backup than Cassell
