Pats roster moves

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff April 29, 2008 05:22 PM

The Patriots made a few roster moves today, cutting veteran LB T.J. Slaughter and waiving CB Tim Mixon.

Both were longer shots to make the roster, and the moves are likely a result of the Patriots targeting those positions with draft picks over the weekend.

Slaughter, who initially entered the NFL in 2000, was attempting to return to the league after sitting out last season. Mixon, 23, spent most of last season on the Patriots' practice squad.

  1. Mike, who do you see making the 53-man roster at linebacker? I'd think Thomas, Bruschi, Hobson, Vrabel, Mayo and Crable are locks, with Izzo a near-lock, given his special-teams value. But who takes the last couple slots? Woods? Seau, if he returns? Ruud and Guyton will have trouble making anything more than the taxi squad with us this year, I think. What's your take?
