Pats trade pick

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff April 27, 2008 10:18 AM

The Patriots have traded their first third-round pick, 69th overall, to the San Diego Chargers.

Details to come.

This selection was originally owned by the Oakland Raiders. The Patriots acquired it by trading a 2007 third-round choice to Oakland.

  1. What are the Pats thinking? First they pick injured players now they have a chance of picking 3 at third to bolster their defense and now they trade the pick away? they need to pick players NOW not in the future

  1. I'm sure shaselai knows more about football than Belichick & Pioli. They get a second round pick for one of their 3 3rd round picks and that's bad? You wouldn't know value if it were gold on a pig farm.

  1. Sorry to see Morgan go but plenty of decent LBs and CBs still available.

  1. Disappointed trade of pick.

Trading the pick for San Diego's 2009 only is going to gain approximately 10 spots in 2009 draft. Who cares.

Rather have the contributer this year, and fill in a hole, and gain a year under his belt.

If they traded it for at least a mid 2nd round pick in 2009 then perhaps.
But, since San Diego is a playoff team then the pick with be a low 2nd rounder in 2009.
