NFL shield

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff April 14, 2008 09:18 PM

The Patriots' media relations staff produced an extensive draft guide and this nugget, while not specifically Patriots-related, caught the eye:

"The 2008 NFL Draft will mark the official public debut of the new NFL shield logo, which has been modified for the first time since 1980. Changes to the shield include reducing the number of stars to a total of eight (representing the NFL’s eight divisions), re-styling the football graphic in the logo and modifying the font in which the letters “NFL” appear."

The old logo is to the left, while the new logo is to the right.

  1. I thought they did this a few years ago. I seem to remember seeing it, exactly as described. Or was I having an ESP moment????

  1. Mike,
What type of information does the draft guide provide? Is it just a media guide type publication for the draft? Can it be accessed anywhere?

  1. While we're at it, let's bring back Pat Patriot too

  1. Todd Macshay just said on Mike & Mike that the Pats are not interested in Gholston.

  1. ampats: They hosted Gholston on a visit, and they had a private workout with him. Trust me, they're at least interested.

  1. There are about 4 people who know who the Patriots are interested in. Todd Macshay isn't one of them. Predicting the draft is useless speculation.

  1. Wow - already I think of the NFL differently. Amazing someone was paid big bucks for that "new" design!

And, by the way, Pat Patriot looked more like a football player than Flying Elvis. That goofy, "soft" logo has been the Pats only misstep of the past 10 -12 years.

  1. Yeah gick - Pat Patriot was awsum...I don't like the new logo near as much

looks like somerhing worn by schoolyard sissies & too similar to Philthadelphia's logo

Cmon ampats - Mike & Mike are just playing along with BB's cover story...we want Gholston BIG-TIME & are hoping this smoke screen keeps him around until #7 - we won't be trading down!

  1. you guys are nuts. the elvis is the best logo in the league. the old 1 looks like it belongs in a 80s football movie.

  1. Where can you can a t shirt, sweatshirt or coffee mug with JUST THE NFL Logo shield on it? I've seen the cups on the set of ESPN's NFL Match up and I see a t shirt with just the NFL Logo shield worn by a guy in some commercial. How would I find this out?
