McSHAY'S SEVEN-ROUND MOCK: Todd McShay of Scouts Inc., takes the bold step of attempting to predict all seven rounds of the NFL Draft. Here is the link to McShay's extensive work (subscription required), and a list of the Patriots' eight picks:

  • 1) LB Keith Rivers (USC)
  • 2) CB Reggie Smith (Oklahoma)
  • 3a) OT/OG Oniel Cousins (UTEP)
  • 3b) OLB Bruce Davis (UCLA)
  • 4) OT Tony Hills (Texas)
  • 5) TE Kellen Davis (Michigan State)
  • 6) OG Robert Felton (Arkansas)
  • 7) OLB Larry Grant (Ohio State)

THE NEXT NICK KACZUR?: The Toledo Blade profiles Toledo offensive lineman John Greco, who some are comparing to Patriots OT Nick Kaczur. "I'm often compared to him," Greco said of Kaczur, who played at Toledo. "It seems like that's how it's been since I got here. It's not a bad name to be mentioned with."

MORE ON PATS-JETS DYNAMIC: Don Banks of SI.com writes on numerous topics "Inside the NFL", one of which is the dynamic of the Jets picking at No. 6 and the Patriots at No. 7. Banks writes that the Jets "are calibrating every move with the Patriots in mind."

    1. Mike, Mock drafts are a waste of time but since everybody does it then they do. However any research shows that no one has gotten over 0% in predicting rounds 2-7. McShay is just People for guys and a complete waste of time. I hope Banks is right. History shows that teams who concentrate on a single opponent rarely win against that opponent and lose to the others. The Mangini era is turning into a nightmare for Jets fans which isn't a bad thing.

    1. Pats are going to trade down. Might be a swap for this year's pick and something high next year or a lower first and another second or early 3rd round pick this year. There is certainly B/B+ talent in the 2nd and 3rd rounds this year that could be developed in the next few years as reserves. They do need 2 impact defensive players though and a trade down gets them the LBs/CBs they need.

Belichick's stupidity with the video taping really screwed them this year. With that late 1st round pick they could easily have done major damage this year and likely next.

    1. What I really want to know is what we are going to do with next year's 32nd pick in the first round....

    1. There is growing speculation that we will take Jerod Mayo at 10. The Saints will move up to get Dorsey or Ellis and we take Mayo. I would love that pick- great MLB

    1. Sure mock drafts are fun - but ALL SEVEN ROUNDS? That's time you'll never get back again.
