Trade changed

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff April 27, 2008 02:51 PM

The original announcement on the Patriots' trade with Tampa Bay was incorrect.

Here is the official trade:

The Patriots sent their 2008 fifth-round pick (160) and 2008 seventh-round pick (238) to Tampa Bay for the Buccaneers' fifth-round pick (153).

That leaves the Patriots with just their sixth-round pick (197).

  1. It hasn't crashed but it is pretty far behind.
The value of the player they selected here is yet to be determined but I believe in what they did. If you pick in the top 100 you expect a solid player at the least. They essentially gave up one of the last picks in the entire draft to move up and get a guy they wanted in the 5th round. Say what you will about Brady being #199 but it is basically a crap shoot this late.
