Belichick lends a hand

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff May 25, 2008 09:47 AM

The Chicago Tribune writes today on the Northwestern University women's lacrosse team receiving an unexpected boost from Patriots coach Bill Belichick.

Northwestern is making its fourth straight appearance in the NCAA Division I Final Four, and its coach, Kelly Amonte Hiller, was seeking new ways to motivate her squad entering the title game.

Northwestern has won the national title in each of the last three years, so what could she possibly say entering today's title game?

"A lot of people have talked about our team being a dynasty, and the Patriots have won so much, I felt he could relate to where we are," Amonte Hiller said in the Tribune piece. "So I called the Patriots. But I never thought he would call me back."
